Newcomer of the Week?
Since when did the Atlantic Sun Conference start awarding weekly awards to guys whose teams didn't even win a game during the week...seems a little odd to me that Jarvis Haywood won the Newcomer of the Week award. While I understand his numbers are clearly deserving of the honor, not sure his team performed well at all.
Ray Rodriguez for North Florida single handily WON the game for them at Lipscomb on Saturday night. He played 15 minutes, had 16 points, 5-5 from FG, was 4-4 from 3FG and had two big free throws in the final seconds and all of that was done in the second half...

RE: Newcomer of the Week?
That should definitely be a pre-req to winning an individual award. The team winning should always be first. Wouldn't want to encourage individual award over a team win.

RE: Newcomer of the Week?
Since week one, when Lester Wilson had a great game in Va Tech's beatdown of ETSU.

Perhaps it should be called "Newcomer of the one game of the Week". How did Rodriguez fare versus UNK in those 15 minutes?

Following the logic as far as individual awards based on winning, the All-ASC teams should be made up of players on only winning teams. So Mercer & FGCU would make up the entire 1st and 2nd all conference teams. Make's sense.
