Sigh. Sadly, I don't expect any loyalty from the players. I would like them to be loyal, of course. But it's hard to expect it, with the coaches' carousel going on. Still, it's not like Turner or Huff ended up in a bad program because they like the coaches. They have a good chance of playing here, and on a winning team.

What message does this send to future recruits?

At this point, the recruits would have to sit out a year, so they're stuck unless they're willing to do that. And I know they don't want to go to FCS schools to play immediately.

Of course it makes sense for HIM.

What about the recruits and us?

Where was Michigan when he was looking for a gig?

Spring Ball is a few weeks away and now we're on the hook to find an RB Coach.

It's not the end of the world, but most of the good ones are employed.

Wait a minute. 03-idea We'll just hire somebody else's coach!

A couple questions: Was Manning under contract? If so, is there a penalty for breaking it?

How about Dri Archer as a player-coach??

The Michael Turner suggestion is laughable. I honestly wouldn't be opposed to GW. It seems like he has a coach like mentality. Obviously worked his ass off to get where he was. Having NFL special teams experience under one of the best ST coordinators in the game is a huge plus too.

+1000. This stuff drives me nuts. So we will probably go take a coach from another team and it goes on and on...this is not fair to the kids. But then again, life is not fair...

What's the buyout? Can't we put in the contract that said coach "has to at least stay for one freaking year"? We can give them 3 days to opt out of the contract, so your average PJ can go row his boat. After that they gotta stay.

My question was in regards to future recruits (class of 2014 and beyond). Our signed recruits at the position (Huff and Turner) have every right to be upset. The fact that Manning wont at least try to reach out to Huff and explain to him the situation is a very sad thing.

It sure is. 03-hissyfit Hopefully they stick around anyway.

How is it a scumbag move? Michigan had an opening because one of their coaches jumped ship to Oklahoma. It's the circle of life, or something like that. ha

Manning probably tripled his salary with one phone call from Hoke.

He had a huge part in where a few high school kids decided to go for college. They had plenty of other options and I'm sure their connection with Manning was a huge reason they chose us. Coaches always preach about keeping your word and how a commitment is such a big deal...obviously not in this case.

I completely understand why he would take the job. I think the saddest part is that he apparently went dark on Huff and whoever else is trying to reach him. He had time to switch his twitter account to all maize and blue but he couldn't make a phone call to Huff, Turner, etc. to explain?

I hope we get the best RB coach that we can. If we have to poach them from another school I am fine with that.

The thing is even if they start tomorrow they only have a week and a half before spring ball starts. They will have a matter of a week just to prepare for the spring ball practice schedule and everything else. I don't want our RB's standing around so somebody better start working with them when March 20 comes around.

Maybe he was recruiting a Coach and not a player this past weekend....
