3rd down music - I finally figured it out.
What down is it?
What down is it?
What down is it?
It's 3rd down.
It's 3rd Down! 3RD DOWN! 3RD DOWN!

I finally found out the source 3rd down music the band plays when the Huskies are on defense.

It's Mars: Bringer of War from the Planets Symphony by Gustov Holtz.

Tell me John Williams did not rip that off.

Black Sabbath also copied that piece when they wrote the song Black Sabbath.

It's funny that I should finally figure that out in the bleak mid-winter.

I got into an argument with a fan last year who was insisting it was the Imperial March. I kept telling him he was wrong and that he isn't a Star Wars fan if he thought that was the Imperial March. Then he accused me of being a homo when I knew that it was from Holtz' The Planets Suite. Ingrate.

I'm one of the people you can blame for that originally being put into place, it's better than having nothing and the band being less involved than it had been previously in game situations.

No matter what you think of it for the game, you should give the Planets a listen, excellent stuff. Also 1st Suite in Eb and 2nd Suite in F are excellent pieces of Holst

I have no problem with that bit of the song being played on 3rd downs.

My only frustration is when (mostly in 2011) our D has 3rd down after 3rd down and didn't make a stop.

Other schools have used The Imperial March. I think Notre Dame does. I like getting the band involved as opposed to just playing a loud gong recording like many other schools.

Huskie D has been bend-but-don't-break. It's been a little too easy to cross mid-field on them, but then they get tougher on a short field
