The Houston MSA has more people than the entire state of Louisiana and you beat Louisiana Tech's attendance by only 20%. Congratulations!!

Calling La Tech's attendance "horrific" when Houston only averaged 1500 more with a far better conference slate?

Cougar Court Jester sure knows how to shake the hornets nest. I am wondering if he is really that clueless, or is this boards latest troll.

That's funny, I recall many of your fans were impressed by our attendance and atmosphere after we played you guys this past season. (Especially considering that we sold out that game, something La Tech has never done before. Hell, you guys had a ranked team this year with a chance to bust the BCS and STILL didn't sell out. To add insult to injury, we went 5-7 with a loss to Texas State and still outdrew you and completely obliterated La Tech on the recruiting trail.)
You guys couldn't even sell out against aggy. If they stopped dodging us and scheduled a game against the Coogs, I guarantee we bring no less than 60k.

We outdrew you guys in some years and our stadium only holds 32k as opposed to yours holding 50k. Also, you're a satellite campus so many of your fans are longwhorns first as a result.
No Name Conference
ECU 47,013 -playing in C-USA
USF 44,130
U Con 34,672
UCF 34,608 -playing in C-USA
Cinci 29,138
Houston 27,247 -playing in C-USA
Temple 26,580 -playing in the MAC
Memphis 24,371 -playing in C-USA
SMU 21,292 (we all know this number is fake) -playing in C-USA
Tulane 18,085 -playing in C-USA

SMU's numbers are not the only ones that are a fake. The attendance numbers are usually tickets sold, those heavily discounted and tickets given away.

I would suspect most of the reported figures are inaccurate. La Tech, for example, does not maintain official attendance records therefore how in heck would they have any idea of how many people shows up. They do keep records of gate receipts and this averaged about $145,000 PER HOME FOOTBALL GAME. Divide that by average ticket price at your school and how many do you think bought tickets. Average at USM is $30. each thus our paid attendance would have only been about 5,000 per game.

Longhorn fans first? Nope. But UH is what, 3rd or 4th fav college team in Houston? And your stadium only holds 32k is why you averaged 27k this past year? Or 25k in 2009? Looks like you came close to maxing out in 2010 and 2011 with 31,700 both years. Credit for that cause your crowds were good those years. But come on, you're suppose to be big time now. You shouldn't be bragging about being 5th in FB attendance over the last 5 years in little old C-USA.

If UTEP made a BCS run and was ranked, I am pretty positive miner fans would be livid at 32k . The irony is they are calling out UNT for not selling out their own home stadium to see a ranked Houston team play when it looks like they didnt even sell out every home game. The sheer arrogance of some their fans is disgusting although most of them are pretty solid fans. I guess every school needs a bossman in their midsts, I'm sure we probably have a few.
ECU will probably hover around 48-50k regardless of conference affiliation - our offense is exciting and our defense has sucked creating many down to the wire games. Plus our game day atmosphere rocks.... literally.

ECU attendance is to be envied. The Pirates would fit the ACC well but the snobs there probably won't let it happen unless the conference is on fire.

I never said anything against Houston's attendance.
I just pointed out one evidence among many that you are an idiot, and that the Houston fanbase would be well served to emphatically disown you.

Thanks Miner... wish you guys were closer to us. Great fan base and overall great sports program.
The New C-USA West
UTEP 29,374
UTSA 29,226 -playing in the WAC
LA Tech 25,751 -playing in the WAC
Rice 20,325
Tulsa 20,020
UNT 18,927 -playing in the Sun Belt
I think every new team in C-USA West should see an increase in attendance with this line-up. I know UNT has had issues being so far removed from the other Belt teams. I'd imagine LA Tech has had this problem with the WAC. UTSA is the only game in town and San Antonio should look forward to playing more Texas programs, and should travel well too. UNT, LA Tech, and UTSA should travel well to Rice. UNT and maybe LA Tech will travel well to Tulsa. I have no clue how well the new teams will travel to UTEP. UTSA might travel to El Paso in solid numbers.
East
USM 25,751
Marshall 24,896
MTSU 17,738 -playing in the Sun Belt
UAB 15,271
FIU 13,634 -playing in the Sun Belt
FAU 13,459 -playing in the Sun Belt
I have no clue what the attendance numbers for the new East will look like. I trust MTSU will turn around their numbers. 17,000 is low for them, they can easily put 20,000+ butts in seats for a game. FAU and FIU both have new stadiums, and recent success on the field. I don't understand why the numbers were so low.

Well...because neither school had ever had a real fan base...even during good seasons.
Figures above are for ANNOUNCED attendance figures...as FAU fired their AD when during the 1st year of their first ever 30,000 seat on-campus stadium, REAL game day attendance had already dropped to around 4,000 fans per game.
FAU over the last 4 years went 5-7, 4-8, 1-11, 3-9
Similar results for FIU...as they have had just 2 winning seasons out of 11 year history of a football program.
One recent "week night" game last year for FIU...actual attendance was in the "hundreds".
