Not the worst, but close. It seems like he shot much better (relatively) at the line last year, especially when the game was on the line.

It has to be a head issue.

He was clutch last year. The guy most wanted to be on the line in crunch time.

This year...not so much..yet.

If you are talking specifically about guards, he may well be among the worst in the nation. But, I do agree that he is generally better in the clutch (yesterday's game excluded).

After going 1-9 in the game, Mick still believed in him. He had Parker bringing the ball down with a minute left to go in the game and dribbling around. I guess Mick was hoping he'd get fouled and would go to the line. 03-nerner

Completely made no sense.

RE: Parkers foul shooting
Parker is our 2nd best ball handler, despite his shooting issues we had no choice but to use him. Anyone else is going to have a decent chance of turning it over. There was enough of a difference between shot and game clocks that they weren't in an obvious foul situation.

I think Parker's slide is due to a bad habit he's picked up. The last two ones he missed appeared like his off hand was in front of the ball and he was essentially shooting through the ball. I know I'm not a coach even though I'm playing one here but if his issue is mechanical then it should be correctable.

His foul shooting is baffling. Parker is a good shooter. It blows my mind how much he has struggled from the line this year.

Parker is the one guy on the team that will take the ball to the hole strong. He needs to be able to hit the FT as he may be the only guy that regularly gets there.

That's what I like most about Parker. He'll see he's got 10-12 seconds left on the shot clock and rather than toss it to someone who has no business trying to create a shot (i.e. one of our "bigs") or jacking up a prayer he'll take it to the hole.

RE: Parkers foul shooting
The irony is that Parker started last season making his first 19 free throw attempts. As a senior and having played well over 100 games, his free throw shooting must be all psychological. There is no other reason to be shooting it so poorly.

Gelawn Guyn is an adept ball handler and is shooting 83% from the line. I'd absolutely be subbing him in for Parker in late game situations where the opponent will certainly be fouling to stop the clock.
