I had several casual NIU fan friends that were extremely excited to do the same. Fast forward three months and it doesn't look like we're even getting season tickets. Maybe the $50 plan but I'm not even sure about that. If I had to guess, those friends will attend a game or two (homecoming and maybe one other) and might not even enter the stadium...they'll just tailgate, hit the bars, etc.

This is business at its simplest. Your customer WANTS to give you money. You take it. You don't make excuses for why it can't be done. Figure it out. This program has 3,000 season ticket holders. Be proactive instead of reactive.

You wanted tickets in December but you don't now.
What changed?

That is the dumbest thing i have ever read...So you were going to buy them in december but since they dont sell them then you are not going to buy them at all.

Sorry cartershaw, but your response is not wise!
Honestly, you've never heard of "striking while the iron is hot." In the days prior to or shortly after the Orange Bowl, the interest in the Huskies (i.e., marketing opportunity) was at its high point -- get back in touch with any NIU fans making the trip south and capitalize on their interest, especially if they were just jumping on the bandwagon. Get in touch with people who couldn't go and offer them a special chance to "upgrade" their seats or get additional seats, or some sort of Orange Bowl souvenir (a keychain, commemorative OB pin) IF they upgrade. You've never seen a commercial on TV where they proclaim "if you act now" they'll throw in a bonus, or double the order, etc.
In answer to your question: Yes, given a chance to reconsider or look at their budget, some people may decide not to purchase tickets and it has nothing to do with being from DeKalb or Sycamore.

+1. I agree. Most of us on this board are diehard Huskie fans and will want to buy season tickets no matter what month it is. But for those fans that jumped on the bandwagon for the MAC championship and the Orange Bowl. NIU should have did some type of program for putting a non-refundable deposit down or were able to purchase season tickets and they would be assigned their seats in June. A huge opprotunity missed by NIU.

Hopefully, the new AD will understand the importance of marketing.

BUt first and foremost , provide something to market in the first place. If Merlin the Magician was in charge of our marketing, even he couldnt even work enough magic to make our recent home schedules attractive to fans.
