I thought the same thing, but I think it seems late because Thanksgiving was as early as it can be last year (11/22). This year, Thanksgiving is the latest it can be (11/28). And the MACC is played the week after Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving's not until November 28 this year. It's always the week after.

Ohio @ BG
Buffalo @ UT

Both listed for ESPNU / ESPN3. So either kickoffs are 5:30 and 9 or somebody is playing a Tuesday night game and not getting on TV.

It's pretty simple - one will be on E$PNU, the other will be on E$PN3. When this happened last year, I believe the times were something like 6pm & 7pm. So you are partly right - 1 game will be on a Tuesday night and not be on TV (E$PN3 is NOT coverage).

You just repeated what I wrote.

Last year there was a Wednesday night with 2 games. One was ESPN2 one was ESPNU. There were no weeknight games bumped to internet only.

Last year Eastern @ OU kicked at 6 on ESPNU and there was a SunBelt game that kicked at 9.

I'm just going to assume someone is getting stuck with game ending around 1 am.

No, I didn't repeat the same thing you wrote. I bet the 2 games will be played at practically the same time (6 & 7), just like last year, not 5:30 & 9.

Ohio at Ball State, 8:00 pm ET (ESPN2/ESPNU) --ESPNU
Toledo at Northern Illinois, 8:00 pm CT (ESPN2/ESPNU) -- ESPN2

That was the only night there was multiple weeknight games. One was ESPNU one was ESPN2. No one was forced to an internet only channel.

And since there is no Sunbelt game on Nov. 12th, someone is probably kicking at 9. Unless ESPN is making the Big East play Tuesday night games at 9 on ESPNU.

Midnight is correct.

Both games will kickoff within 1hr or each other. One game will be on ESPNU and the other will be on ESPN3.com.

Both games will NOT be on ESPNU.

Is it just me, or are there way more weeknight games this season compared to last? I'm sick of that.

They had said there would be more, and I believe there are. NIU only has 3 Saturday home games. 3 weeknight games total.

RE: 2013 MAC FB schedule
Everyone should email their AD and the MAC commish and let them know how we truly despise weeknight games and that E$PN3 does not count as coverage or national TV or anything! It would be ok if the only 6 or 7 weeknight games were on just E$PN/2/U, but when the MAC schedules 10+ weeknight games just to get on E$PN3, then that is BS.

'2' should be the maximum for any one school. Here we have five schools playing 1/3 of their season's schedule on a weekday.

I suppose if there's one lone advantage of having a bad record, it's that you get more Saturday afternoon games the following season.

Don't e-mail your AD's, e-mail your University President.

This is a decision of the MAC Presidents. It helps with traditional student recruitment in many out-of-state markets and that is why they agree to play them. Out-of-state students mean out-of-state fees. To many students up and down the I-95 corridor, MAC schools are a great value (about half the price of many east coast institutions).

Your university President is not concerned about how you feel as a fan of athletics. They are more concerned with bringing in the students who are going to pay the bills, and the more full paying students they can get (PLUS add in the out-of-state fee$$$$$$$$ they pay) and now you can understand why we play these games on E$PN.

Didn't someone check out the data on the weeknight vs. Sat. games, and it showed that there was no significant difference in attendance? Anyone else remember that?

I know at KSU, the Sat. avg. and the non-Sat. avg. for home games last season were about the same.

Our lowest attended game of the year is always the game the day after Thanksgiving. So there has to be some difference for NIU just from that. Also, our main weeknight game has been against Toledo, which has been a big game in recent years, and has been promoted by NIU more than the other games. If that game had been on a Saturday, we undoubtedly would have had more fans.

Here's Toledo's Saturday (12) vs. Weeknight (6) average for 2010-2012...
[I counted 2 Friday night games vs. Boise and Arizona, and 1 Thursday night vs. New Hampshire for a season opener, since UT scheduled these]

Saturday: 22,512
Weeknight: 17,017 (1 Wednesday, 1 Friday, 4 Tuesday)
Difference: 5,495

RE: 2013 MAC FB schedule
my biggest issue is that I wish the regular season could end ONE week earlier (and have an off week before the MACC). I'm guessing that this extended season originated when the MAC decided to hold the MACC.

This could be en lieu of one of the two bye weeks.

No one is around our campus the day after T-giving and the weather can be pretty tough in a lot of our cities.

What makes sense for the SEC doesn't make sense for the MAC.

For the month of November it has largely not made a difference if the games are played mid week or not.

Attendance is sub 20,000 across the conference in November.

Thats because the weeknight games are in November when its cold and rainy. Do the same analysis and pick September Saturday home games vs November Saturday home games. The drop in attendance will be the same, its not the weeknight games that drop the attendance, it is the weather. The misunderstanding comes from most of all of the midweek games coming in November.

I personally like the mid-week games and think they are key for the conference. Bring on more, not less.

At least at Miami, the first two home games of the year always have the best attendance regardless who we play and then level off and drop the rest of the year regardless of its a mid-week or Saturday game. When the weather is nice, it helps our attendance, if cold and rainy, not so much. If we are having a great season, the attendance will hold up better.

I we sell brie at the game, it would probably boost our attendance.
