Debt...
We've heard both parties over the years express the idea that our debt doesn't matter.

My question then is this....If debt doesn't matter then why do taxes? Why pay on a debt that doesn't matter. Shouldn't we just eliminate all taxes and run on limitless debt?

Just pointing out the abject stupidity in believing debt doesn't matter.

BY READING THIS POST YOU RECOGNIZE THAT IMATY IS THE LAST GREAT CRUSADER FOR TRUTH AND JUSTICE SO HELP YOU GOD.

RE: Debt...
I believe in paying for things I use. I have no problem contributing to the collective for things that "we all use and benefit from" equally and helping those that "truly" can not take care of themselves. If we stuck to this paradigm...We would not be in the mess we are now.

My daughter is in grad school now. I had a honest discussion with her recently about this mess. She understands that she will most likely be a member of the 1st generation in American history that will NOT exceed their parents in financial security. I will see to it she will advance...but..there is going to be a large portion of this generation that is going to suffer...Very sad. It will be directly attributed to this massive debt that we now have incurred.

What kills me s the Justice Dept would be investigating, arresting, and possibly putting into receivership our government if they weren't the government all while libs complain about the greed of it all.

Good point. Of course...Government is immune to it's own crimes. It's history is littered with examples. Add this to the list.

RE: Debt...
I don't think both parties have the exact same position on the debt. The Republicans are much more interested in keeping the debt under control, although they haven't been able to do it alone. It's tough to do when the takers outnumber the makers.

A wise man once said the Republican Party is the party of big government. The Democratic Party is the party of really big government.

Kudos to you for having that talk. My two kids, 7 & 4, have discovered what money is and constantly ask me to give them some. I've already had the talk about "money isn't free" and you have to/need to work for it. So, we've introduced little chores around the house for them to EARN a little money. People have to teach kids at a young age that work = money. Folks just don't do that enough these days.

We are a very spoiled society that is in for a very rude awakening. Honestly...I am not worried about my personal situation. I have prepared for my future. I am though very worried about the future of today's youth.

Good for you, same here. Heck, we have a plan if both my wife and I lose our jobs. As for our kids, I can only try to teach them right from wrong and to rely on no one but themselves. One day I'll have to set them free and hope that what I have taught them leads them down the right path.
