2014 Old Dominion Football Recruiting Den
Figured it was time to make this thread.

2014 Safety 5* Recruit and #7 Player in the nation Quin Blanding, out of Bayside is making his decision today. UVA is in lead but he also holds an offer from ODU among 40 other schools (including Alabama, Miami, etc.)

EDIT: He committed to UVA, picked them over FSU and Ohio State.

Other Players we are recruiting heavily:
Ricky Walker from Bethel, rated 90 4*s according to 247 sports. He's a top 20 DT and also has offers from VT, UNC, BC, and Penn State
Joseph Gause from NY, rated 76 2*s according to 247 sports

We also just offered Alec Eberle from Mechanicsville. He also holds an offer from future opponent Maryland.

We definitely need to win at least one (maybe more?) of the FBS games this year to assist in the 2014 recruiting. Remember - - AIM HIGH MONARCHS!

Interesting that UVA has beaten out VT to take the top player from the 757 for the past few years, even though Virginia Tech has consistently been the better football team. Can't wait til ODU breaks in there are steals the top player from 757 one year.

Yeh, I was looking over some of the players that they've recruited over the past few years. Overall VT and UVA seem pretty even, UVA have had the very top picks but haven't really come close to Tech in the standings apart from '11.

There's no better way to make good talent soft than send them to Charlottesville

Darnell Moore never sent a kid to Tech that I can remember. It always seemed like they went elsewhere. Then London gets the job & it's a virtual pipeline. Wonder why?

Offered 3* WR/DB Bingo Morton today. It's his first offer but he has interest from Kentucky and Georgia.

Shuler Bentley is rated 4*/90 grade and holds offers from ODU, Delaware, Coastal Carolina. He has already visited Clemson and will probably pick up more offers after camps this summer.

What Heinicke has accomplished under Wilder's offense has opened the floodgates for talent-rich quarterbacks. As we move into full-time C-USA competion and play quality OOC opponents, and if TH in the next two years can have anywhere near the season he had last year, it will continue to get better and better for ODU in the quarterback recuiting wars.

Based on what we have seen the last couple of years with Heinicke and McCarley, this kid will have a hard time being recruited by the BCS schools because he is "only" 6' 1".

Bentley is very big time
He is the son of the coach at Byrnes, which is a perennial national power and 11 time state champ. They came here and beat Oscar Smith last year 42-21 with Bentley connecting on 30 of 38 passes for 333 yards and three touchdowns.

In 2011, he completed 233 of 365 passes for 3,484 yards and 48 touchdowns. He also rushed for three scores and finished with a passing rating of 183.6.

In 2012, he broke Willie Korn's state record for yards, passing for 4,718 yards and 59 TDs, completing 299 of 462.
