I wasn't particularly impressed with the atmosphere at Xavier last night, was it spring break or something?!

Yes, surprisingly Xavier is on spring break this week. Kind of early as spring breaks go, but they started second semester classes on January 7. Many schools aren't coming back for a couple of weeks after that.

Yup students are on spring break. I think it's ridiculous the school gave us this week for it. They said its because Easter falls early this year. Whatever.

The atmosphere would have been much better. If you're looking to see a normal X atmosphere, i would try to find highlights of the Butler game in November or the Dayton one in January.

I am a season ticket holder and drive from Indy for every home game. The atmosphere was actually pretty good considering the students were not there and most in attendance, at least in my area, is over 60. There was one 80+ year old that was yelling so loud everyone was concerned for his health.

The C7 continues to roll. Georgetown beat UConn at UConn last night in double OT. I was at the game and it was the best game I've seen all year. The loss was a bitter pill for UConn fans to swallow. Both teams played great.

All the BE7+candidates win except Depaul............btw, Creighton vs. Wichita State on Saturday (ESPN2) is for the league title, expect 18,500+ in the stands for probably the most important league game in a long time.

Creighton wins today 91-80 over Wichita State to claim the league title in front of 18,613 fans. Doug McDermott goes off, 15-18 from the field for 41 points. Here is what BE7 teams can expect to see when they come to Omaha.

Guess Butler doesn't qualify as being on a roll after getting absolutely punked by VCU.

Well, I think that was a once in a lifetime game for Creighton. Wichita State couldn't play worse defense, and Creighton couldn't possibly shoot better. I still have no freaking clue how Wichita State got within 12 points (80 is with an added free-throw that didn't actually exist). They were outplayed, outclassed, and hard to watch as a fan. Doug was amazing, but Creighton went on the game-deciding 14-2 run with him on the bench.

VCU is just enhancing their credentials so that the C7 will have no choice but to take them too.

yeah. to me for those not wanting VCU, this was worst case scenario quite frankly. Not just the game itself which was bad, but fox had to notice the atmosphere at the Siegel Center. I was out today, but heard I think it was an ESPN scoreboard update, and they even mentioned how crazy the place was. I watched a bit of it online and the place was just electric.

This means VCU should be added but the loss to Richmoind means nothing.

a lot different losing a game in OT compared to getting curb stomped like Butler did today. 45-21 at halftime for gosh sakes.

Hmmm,..... Looks like A-10 will still be best non-football basketball conference:

VCU annilhates Butler
UMass beats XU on the road. 05-stirthepot

I thought one game didn't matter?

Whats that mean for the Aresco league when St. John's beat all three staying behind?

Yep, right up there with losses by the A 10's top teams to the future C7+:

UMass loses to St. Louis
LaSalle loses to Xavier

Looks like Xavier suffered a let down yesterday after their big win over Memphis last week. Classic trap game. Especially with their students away on winter break, which diminished their home court advantage.

04-cheers

RE: C7+ on a roll
Xavier had a horrible off season and currently only has 8 scholarship players. Also, they are very young with 5 new starters this season. They have won and lost games this season that they should not have. Chris Mack and his staff have done a great job. Next season will be different. Could they challenge for a Big East title next season? Maybe. 2014-15 is the season where they should do some damage.

As you all know, basketball is about matchups and Butler does not match up well (this season) with VCU. They will be fine moving forward. Although, I would like to see them land a couple of high quality point guards and some size on the blocks in their next couple of recruiting cycles.
