I think our staff is best positioned to sweep a weekend with Lemond and Simms available to close out games. And that works best if somebody other than Simms is the Sunday starter. Nobody's stepped into that role.

I think I'd be inclined to give Fox a try over the next 2 weekends. If it doesn't work, then we go back to the current rotation for the Regional.

Not sure on that, but we have to get something figured out. Simms can't continue to be used the way he is. Not getting McCanna going after his injury in preseason workouts has hamstrung us.

Sounds like a good question for OG's Radio Show tonight.

With very strong outings by starters, we didn't use much bullpen against Marshall.

Here is who pitched in last week of season

Kubitza
Stephens
Simms
Lemond
McCanna
McDowell
Ditman

Fox is clearly in that mix but didn't need to throw.

That looks like 8 arms including 1 lefty.

Do we use our regular rotation for the CUSA tourney pool play and then give the ball to McCanna or McDowell for the title game if we make it?

these 8 guys have combined for 464 innings pitched
Pitchers not on that list have thrown a total of 33.1 innings--almost half of those by Rutter, whose face is on milk cartons despite a 3.86 ERA

Not to get ahead of Walt's tourney preview, but if Noodle's scenarios in the other thread are right, our pool for the CUSA tourney is UAB, UCF, and Memphis.

We went 4-5 against that group.

8-4 against the other pool. (edit)

Yeah, not good...but on the positive side, we'll be seeking revenge against each of those teams; especially UCF (against whom we probably played our worst all-around ball of the season) and Memphis (whose trio of southpaws gave us fits). I'd expect to see each team to save their best left-hander to start against us. Quite honestly, it's the smart thing to do. We just need our weekend starters to pound the strikezone and our defense to play error-free, as both did this past weekend.

BTW, doubt I'll have time to prepare a preview as I'm traveling down to Houston Tuesday morning.
