Opposing coach saw it prior to the match. Could have shown some class and brought it up prior, but waited til he saw an official once it started. I wouldn't want to win on a technicality.

Marquis will pin his share of running backs in his upcoming career as a Rocket defensive tackle...

It is a technical violation and his opponent gets 1 point added to his score. Same as grabbing a headgear or a singlet during the match. There is no warning given.

That is a rule that needs to be abandoned. There is no advantaged gained in this situation and any coach or wrestler who takes the point knowing the situation should be assessed a point deduction for not using good sportsmanship.

I was trying to figure out how Moore lost 2-1. That would normally be either a take down by the opponent and no resulting escape - and then not escaping (or choosing the neutral position insted of the "down" position and not being able to escape. Either that or an escape and a 1 point penalty - usually for stalling. To lose like this is ridiculous. Moore is the better wrestler and should have made it to the finals.

BTW - Alex Mossing of TCC wins a state crown by beating Skoniecsny (sp?) somewhat easily in the finals. Spiess also wins a crown at D-3 106#. Haven't heard yet - but Zane Krall from Wauseon should win at 220 in D-2. Tough final match after finishing 2nd last year. Would suck to finish 2nd two years in a row.

JP Newton of P'burg takes a 3rd. He lost the sectional to Clay's Damon Dominique who did not place.

He forgot to take a hair band off his wrist before stepping on the mat.

I still ask where was the coaching staff? There wasn't a coach or assistant responsible for looking over each player before he walked to the mat who could have said, "Dude, you gotta take that off,"? And like Pappylizard said, the official could have told him to throw it off before blowing the whistle. Too darned bad.

It's the same in track and field. Participants can be disqualified for uniform violations.
