Where has the season gone?

Time to gear it up for some Tiger post-season basketball...!!!

I'm happy it's almost spring!

But to be honest, we have much better talent than any of those teams, and though a loss to any of those teams wouldn't be shocking, we really shouldn't lose any of those games.

Especially Xavier. Xavier needs this game.

For UCF and UTEP, the game is strictly for pride.

I am actually most worried about the sandwich game - the game @UCF. UTEP beat us last year & I think the team gets up for that one. The @Xavier game is on ESPN2 & will get all kinds of hype - so I know the boys will be up for that one. That game @UCF is certainly going to be a tough one.

I just hope to make a statement @Xavier on national TV.

Given the state of Xavier this year, we won't have to say much.

Next year, if the three game road stretch is Louisville, Marquette, and Georgetown, that will be really tough.

Don't get me wrong...all three of these teams are extremely well coached and all have some great players...some of which could start for any team in the Top 25...but...

These games, really shouldn't be.

I was just messing around.

On paper, and based on how we've played as of late, we should win these 3 games handily. Xavier is bad this year, UCF beats Southern Miss but then loses to Marshall, and UTEP has lost twice to Tulsa, once to UAB and Houston, and scored a whopping 39 points in a loss to Southern Miss.

Of course, that's why they play the games. But I like our chances to sweep.....

We have to show up and play...

If we play well we will win by a large margin...If we play average we may win...If we play poorly we may lose.

Xavier has been strong at home as of late. I feel like we'll really have to be on top of our game this Tuesday or we could easily get upset. I think the line having us at about a 3 point favorite is about right. RPIForecast has us at about a 2 point favorite.

Xavier is not a bad team.

I'll be disappointed if we lose @UCF.

@UTEP is a wild card to me. We may not match up well with them and Tim Floyd is a tricky coach.

Obviously we're the favorite in all 3 games individually. But road games are always dangerous, even road games against decent (but not great) teams. Road games against good teams are hard to win... road teams against decent-to-middling teams are easy enough to lose.

History and common sense tell you that sooner or later you are likely going to drop a road game to an inferior opponent...like Miami did at Wake this week.

Wake Forest is ranked MUCH lower in the RPI than Xavier, UCF or UTEP.

Those great Cal teams that ran the table at the end of the year did it by the skin of their teeth every year. Each year there was at least one dramatic close call. Those CUSA years were rated about the same as this year too.

All the teams we play are top third RPI teams playing at home and very motivated to beat a top 25 squad. Realistically, as teams like KU and Miami can attest, the team with the most talent does not win every game.

I'm a little worried about UTEP. We always seem to drop a game to them when we shouldn't. Not all that worried tho. This team plays very well on the road.
