MyBB ECU's second winning season in 3 yrs under Lebo.
Anyone think its possible we get a CIT bid this year or CBI with a strong finish? RPI is at 95 and climbing.

-With the win over SMU, ECU assured itself of a winning season for the second time in three years under coach Jeff Lebo. The Pirates had 13 consecutive non-winning seasons prior to his arrival.
-ECU's 4 Conference USA road victories are the most since joining the league
-ECU was won five road games this season, the most since winning five during the 1998-99 campaign.
-Against SMU, ECU came from 17 points down for the second time this season. They were down 17 at home to UCF before rallying for an 88-85 overtime win. The comeback was the largest road deficit overcome in the last 30 years.
-Junior Akeem Richmond set the school-record and tied the CUSA record for 3s in a game with nine against SMU.

We temporarily lose the thorn in our side Memphis next season, but some good programs are joining. Hope we can continue to improve next season and make a run for the NIT at least.

If the season ended today, both ECU Men's & Women's Basketball team would earn first round byes in the C-USA Tournament. We're not the best team by far, but it's nice to not be the cellar-dweller in the league!

The league will be much stronger as a whole next year in basketball, so all of us will have to improve.

Southern Miss has greatly improved as well. Should be an exciting year next year.

Coach Macy is tearing it up. She has the girls at 19-7, with three more regular season games. Tied with Tulane for second place.

With the new practice facility coming in, upgrade to the electronics in the arena, it might be time to look into extending both coaches contracts.

I am not sure what Lebo is making but I think $600,000+. Maybe time for a little bump.

ECU also needs to make sure the assistants are taken care of. Consistency is important there.

CIT and CBI bids are all about if you are willing to pay to play, especially for home games. If you have a winning record and $$$ you'll get in.

ODU lost close to 100k last year hosting CIT games and the extra games did nothing to help our program.

Good point but did host our game 2 years ago. I wonder if how that worked out financially will make us host again if we get a shot.

Something very true, that we haven't had to deal with (in this sport).

Yeah, not sure why any team would actually want to participate in either the CIT or CBI tournaments.

If you are a school who's got a lot of NCAA/NIT bids then no you absolutely shouldn't want to play in them. If you haven't then it's probably a positive for your program to play more games and get more work at 1 and done games.

RE: ECU's second winning season in 3 yrs under Lebo.
Shaka Smart won the CBI in his first season at VCU. The next year he took many of the same players to the Final 4. The CBI certainly capped off a positive season for them that year and I'm sure Smart has said the win or go home postseason experience over muiltiple weeks helped them in tourny time the next season. To say that experience isn't valuable or a potiental 5 or 6 additional wins in a win or go home tourny is useless isn't true.

Your telling me winning 27 games that year at VCU instead 22 and sitting home didn't help build some positive momentum or expereince? VCU had a great program before they won the CBI and a couple years before that had beat Duke in the NCAA and had been to the NCAA the year before too. There are plenty of positive reasons to play in those tournys.

Some fans may think their school is above the CBI but it's not a bad list of schools that have participated in the CBI

Virginia
Cincy
Pitt
Butler (2012 fresh off 2 national finals)
Oregon
Stanford
VCU
St John's
Washington
Utah
St Louis
Richmond
Washington St
Creighton
Witchita St
Nevada
Oregon St
UTEP
College of Charleston
Princeton
Tulsa

Plenty of schools with history there or that play on bigger stages.

I just saw Butler went to the CBI last year, and that's after coming off of 2 national championship games the previous 2 years. Apparently they didn't feel like their program had outgrown the CBI's usefulness. The better question is why would you turn it down and sit home if programs like that fresh off back to back runner up finishes go. No one is above those tournys.

Still, it's usually a losing proposition ($$ wise) to participate. That money would be better spent on facilities, etc.

So are bowl games. Coaches, fans, and players love them though.

ODU won the CIT in 2009 and then beat Notre Dame in the tourney in 2010. Last year we got to the CIT quarters (3rd round) averaging half our season attendance for the games and are currently 4-24 this year.

So extra play and practice (how much practice is allowed, anyways) is something that should be turned away?

I somewhat disagree...I think you give your seniors as many games as possible to show them that you appreciate their contribution to the school.

Now, do we have a realistic shot at the NIT?
