the way college basketball is this year, it is going to depend a lot on how other teams do. I think the committee has a really tough job this year.

Our SOS will likely keep us from a 3.

I still believe a 4 is possible. 4-6 are the most likely seeds, with a 6 seed being due to some sort of bracket rule where we get bumped down to avoid a bracket violation. We and Gonzaga are the two most likely teams to get dropped a seed for bracket rules, as we would have the worst SOS's of the top seeds.

Any seed other than a 1 or 2 means you will play a tough team early.

Let’s just keep winning and let the dice roll.

The Next 2 weeks could see a lot of teams losing to one another and a bad loss here and there, a 3 seed in the south is a strong possiblity for the Tigers if they run te Table.

Syracuse losing to the #11 team in the country doesn't mean that they will drop. Remember, last year a lot of folks had us as a 6. The Selection Committee didn't view us as favorably and our resume isn't that different this year.

Unless we lose to UAB, we should be at least 1 line better. If we run the table we should be 2-3 lines better.

Well, let's see if there are 4 region that is 16 teams in the top 16 seeds. A 20th ranking and a 3 seed sounds reasonable to me if the Tigers continue to win.

At this juncture no one thought that we would be considered for a 5 seed... now look.... Winning out the Tigers can do no worse than where they are sitting now. What is the likelihood of a few of the teams above us dropping more games? Highly
Its a great spot to be in especially being an afterthought 75% of the season.

Now we're getting somewhere. Some of you are starting to make sense. If we are a 5 seed if tourney ended today, then winning out in convincing fashion will move us even higher. The only thing keeping it from happening are those teams in front of us not laying an egg. But if around 4 teams in front of us bottom out we'll move up.

Agreed, and you can add New Mexico to that list after they won @Colorado State. Maybe even Ohio State after they beat Michigan State. If we win out, a 4 is probably our absolute cap, with 5 being most likely

We are a shoo in for a 3 seed in the NIT....When it comes to NCAA seeding we are going to get hosed, you can bet on that...

Some of those very teams will lose 1 or 2 games by virtue of them playing one another. Tigers winning out will create an interesting Sunday.
Food for thought
New Mexico has SDSU who they lost to earlier, Wyoming, Nevada and @ Air Force plus the Conference tournament. They will need to win out to maintain their status.

Georgetown is very strong with a resume to die for..@ UConn @ Villanova, Rutgers and Syracuse plus the Big East Tourney creates an interesting road test for them to maintain a 3 seed.

If they win out they'll be top 10. This was a future referenced post.

We would need the teams in front of us to collapse severely. That ain't gonna happen

If we win out we will be about a 5 seed. 6 would be a bit of a shafting, and 7 would be ludicrous. Outside shot at a 4 seed.

RE: If Tigers win out they should be at least a 3 seed.
We really do not have a history of being hosed in seedings.

Last year was not good...but the others recently seem close.

2011 12 seed
2009 2 seed!
2008 1 seed
2007 2 seed
2006 1 seed
2004 7 seed
2003 7 seed

It is arguable that the 07 and 09 seeds were favorable- although locations have been tough. #1 seed with #2 seed Texas in the Houston regional. #2 seed with #3 seed TX A&M in San Antonio. #1 seed with #2 seed UCLA in California.

A 31-3 team on a 25 game winning streak...tough to see that below a 4 or 5...Issue is- a 30-4 team should also be no lower than a 4-5 either.

Unlike last year though- coach and team CANNOT allow themselves to be distracted by seed.

Also, lets hope someone in that room points out that Geron didn't play vs VCU & played limited minutes vs Minnesota & that someone also points out that lville shot double the free throws we did & barely beat us. If the Tigers catch some early season breaks they'd be a 1 seed. A 3 seed is definitely in order.

What was Butler seeded the first year they went to the Championship game?

i somewhat agree that we SHOULD be a 3 seed, but i cant picture us being any higher than 4-5. this season for college bball overall is a toss up, so im perfectly happy with a seed of 3-5.
