Agree with all except the possible declining revenue. Perhaps, but there will be less mouths to feed, and we'll have 4 good teams of 10 or 11, rather than 6-8 of 16, and others could step up with less competition available.

Yes, fewer mouths to feed, but it's not 4 good teams vs 6-8. The old Big East got as many as 11 teams to the tournament in a single year. Although UConn & Memphis have consistently made the tournament in recent years, Cincy & Temple have missed as often as they've made it, so there's nothing automatic about them.

The other thing you're missing is that it's not just about making the tournament. Tournament credits are based on how deep you go in the tournament after making it there. In its 5 trips to the tournament in the past 10 years, Temple won only 1 game and even Cincy won only 5. Those kinds of numbers aren't going to produce a lot of revenue. The old Big East produced teams that went deep into the tournament, i.e. 3 NC's & 8 Final 4's + numerous Elite 8's & Sweet 16's in the past decade. It's those kind of performances that generate revenue.

Last I heard the NBE had a floor of 10/12 million per school and a ceiling of 15/17 million. Then UofL and Rutgers left and we are stuck with the ESPiN deal......I guess UofL and Rutgers were worth what? Like 1 trillion dollars to the NBE. Just do the math.
