The Army-Navy game contract with CBS runs through 2018. This Forbes article from December expects CBS to pony up $10M/year to renew it, now that it has a specific date and an exclusive slot. This is definitely an obstacle that must be dealt with for Navy to join. Let's see how the details of the TV deal work out and how this part of the negotiation can be worked out before casting judgement as to whether Navy will join or not.

Thats totally reasonable--but if you are realistic--we are dealing with 2 million a team in income here. Theres just not alot we have to offer. The Army Navy game is just one aspect of thier media income. Navy has 6 other home games under contract to CBS. CBS can bump Navys current contract to 5 million (for the other games) and keep them pretty easily. We are in a knife fight with a plastic spork.

I tell you now, if the Army-Navy game had conference ramifications to it, I would watch the sh!t out of it.

This how I read it.

It's $10M for basketball only in 2013-14 with everybody here. Starting in 2014 for football, then it's $20M a year + $2-4M from CBS, for 6 years, so the numbers are higher than you figured for the nBE.

Wilkie, it's $500K off if CBS goes $4M, which could be 15-20% higher than you said. But the point is, why do you even care? You're shaving the numbers to make it even worse, and just plain trolling now. Go away.

Short 7 year deal. We want more $$ we need to get it done on the field and on the court. The markets are there. The contract comes up again lets see where it is. We got to prove it. Which I have faith we all will.

It's actually 120 million over six years which comes to $20 million a year which comes to $2 million per school in a ten team league. Previously the football and basketball contracts were signed separately and the basketball contract was up this year. The football contract has one more year. This is Essentially two contracts not one. It's a six-year $120 million football and basketball contract starting with the 2014/2015 season. And a one year 10 million dollar basketball contract for the 2013 2014 season

Don't forget the extra 2 million from CBS for BB

That woul be $2 million per school in a 10 team conference. I would not go to 12 teams for less money. This is the 10 teams in my best estimate:

UConn
Temple
Cincinnati
Memphis
East Carolina
Central Florida
South Florida
Tulane
SMU
Houston.

Those ten teams aren't worth ten cents to watch.

That's eight more than your two.

Does anyone else remember the days when Wilkie, along with ArmyMike, were by far the best Louisville posters. Yea, those days are gone. WIlkie's account must've been hacked by an ******* 18 months back.

RE: "ESPN over matched the offer"
Good Navy discussion. Let me add another aspect.

Right now Army/Navy get the money they get from CBS partly because they have an exclusive date they are allowed to play on. The only game of the day, the week after all CCG's.

Someone posted a month or two ago that when the game has been forced to go against other games (like Thanksgiving weekend) or CCG's; it has not done all that well ratings wise. Not terrible, but certainly not good enough to demand that type of payment for one game.

So I agree that to get Navy to join you'd need to let them keep the Army/Navy game out of the BE TV contract. But you'd also need to let them continue to play the game after the BE CCG. How that would affect the CCG would have to be looked into and debated. 99% of the time it probably wouldn't, but that 1% could be an issue.

In the end though he's just a Loserville fan, and their trashy attitudes and mentality that they are above everyone they have ever shared a league with will always come out.

You could go the other way and have the game played the weekend before Labor Day weekend to start the college football season. It would be the first college football game of the season each year

Another Navy issue. One of the conditions of Navy agree to join the Big East was that it would not be forced to play midweek home games.
