The could have just stopped the list after about 6-7 schools. There is no way Ohio State or Michigan would let half the teams on the list join the B1G.

*I live in Columbus, OH so I have a pretty good gauge on how they think.

Take off Mizzou for Miami, and you have it.

I like double up on markets in same spots, the tv folks probably would say the big 10 should drop purdue. Getting UVA and Va tech in one move is probably a lot easier politically.

No way that NC State is not on that list.

Pitt maybe a chance @11...UC would be @25. ND #1 is the one they got right.

With OSU and PSU, the likelihood that Pitt or UC becomes BIG teams are not good.

I also think UVA and GT should be rated above Miami.

No offense to Miami but with their new problems could not even see them on the list. Would say the same about UNC, but most people tend to ignore their foibles.

Probably ten of the schools mentioned are nonstarters. I doubt the BIG even makes it as far as FSU on that list. My guess is it is looking at two more from the acc(UVa & UNC) to go to sixteen. After that the BIG would have to have a Midwest/Southeast compromise to get to twenty. In that case my bet is Duke & GT to the East and UK & Mizzu to the West.

Right now though, everything is on hold until the UMd lawsuit is settled. If that $50m exit fee is ruled to be unenforceable as a restraint of trade, then chances are the b12-2 GOR will be challenged next.

I can't say that I'm surprised by it, but it has always struck me a little odd that Louisville doesn't even get a consideration with Big Ten talk.

Always will say yes too:

Notre Dame
Texas
North Carolina
Duke
Virginia

Might consider:

Georgia Tech
Florida State
Boston College
Syracuse

Anybody else?

Only if you are somehow vital to getting one of the biggest prizes like ND or NC

Better yet, take them both along with GT and UVA. Throw in FSU and suddenly the Big Ten can shop around for the final spot.

I imagine that Delany would like to have: Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, Kansas, and try for Texas and Notre Dame. When Notre Dame and Texas say no he would likely try for Missouri and Duke.

I'm not sure however that he'll get any of them. I believe ESPN will wait for the Maryland decision before offering more money. If the exit fee is upheld ESPN won't have to offer as much to keep the ACC together. If Maryland wins then they will have to pony up a lot more to keep them together.

If the ACC survives the heat will turn to the Big 12 again.

I certainly like the idea that Athlon has put Cincinnati on the list. We all know in Cincinnati that the university and it's fans and support are very attractive to any league.

Tier 1: ND, Texas, UNC
Tier 2: VA, GT, DUKE, Missouri
Tier 3: Kansas, Fsu, Syr, UConn, VT, BC, OK
Tier 4: Miami, Clemson, Pitt

I think the B10 pauses at 14 for a while, in order to get a school on their Tier 1 list.

That is why the BE was able to garner the largest TV contract in history.04-jawdrop 05-nono 04-cheers

Obviously, ND does not want to join a football conference.

If ND is "forced" to join the Big Ten, that conference will have to deal with thousands of pissed off ND alumni and fans who will hate that conference even more and root passionately that their "conference brethren" lose every game they play, every bowl game, every OOC game.

Many will actively hope that the conference they are in implodes and dies. They will despise their own conference and consider themselves "behind enemy lines".

ND will be a malcontent in any conference that "forces" them to join. The anger and hatred will be palpable for a generation, at least.

Some may think that I am overreacting to this and represent the "outlier" example of an ND fan who hates the Big Ten, or that ND fans will be pacified little sheep who will happily and unthinkingly fall into line and be joyfully assimilated Borg into the Big Ten.

I don't think so. I think it would be like the Republic of Ireland annexing a million raving, angry Northern Irish Protestants by hostile force against their will.

It would be an ugly "marriage".

Why in the hell would anyone want this? It boggles my mind.

I believe Missouri and Kansas would join the Big in a heart as would UConn. If the BIG is really going to 18, they might be able to get Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Kansas to bite. 03-idea
