To be fair, no one has tried to say VCU/Butler should be added for what they did in the regular season. Tournament results are what put those teams into consideration, and SLU has a lot to prove in the tournament.

Well they did beat Memphis last year with basically this same team. I see them doing some damage in the tourney this year.

I've thought all along that SLU would be a good get for the C7. But I still think that if -- repeating, IF -- it came down to SLU or VCU, then I'd go with the Rams.

I'd be really surprised if Dayton is not included in this.

I agree with your statement, although I don't like doing it. With Xavier a given, why Dayton too?

Because Dayton averages 12,000+ fans per game. If I remember correctly, that's better than ever one of the C7 except for Marquette. That's a great fan following that you just can't manufacture.

Xavier and Dayton are not the same market any more than BC and PC are or St. John's and Seton Hall are. Neither XU nor UD are commuter schools with an identity limited to their local market. Like all private schools, they have regional identities and will bring fan interest from across the state of Ohio and surrounding states.

RE: SLU beats Butler AGAIN!!!
When the old Metro and Great Midwest merged to form C-USA in 1995, Dayton was the only Great Midwest member left out. Obviously they don't want to go through that again.
