I belive its 2 Million.

i seem to recall FAU having to pay that. However its not a lump sum. The Entrance fee can be subtracted from payouts from the confrence I believe.

It is 2.5 million dollars, payable as a subtraction from conference payouts in five annual installments of 500,000 dollars each. In addition, new members do not qualify for exit fees or tournament credits from previous membership...only money earned from the official join date.

Do we know this for a fact or just from "what I heard"? Wouldn't be surprised, but just wondering.

Are you saying the basketball credits earned prior to this summer will only be distributed to schools that were in the league when they were earned? If so, the six remaining schools will be getting a big increase in basketball distributions for a few years.

It is standard practice AFAIK, but it is never going to be officially stated anywhere. There aren't a whole lot of tournament credits out there right now as we had some one bid years in there (see JMSTiger's RPI update threads). The exit fee money is a bigger issue right now, but I can see no reason why the six loyal members would split that with the incoming teams, although it is possible that the money gets ear-marked for some sort of conference improvement plan.

RE: cusa entrance fees
Just a little quick estimate..For 2013, if CUSA only earns 2 credits, the distribution would be as follows

2008-2013 credits will be 11 units / 12 teams.
2009-2014 credits will be 10 units/8 teams (old credits, remaining teams only)
2010-2015 credits will be 9 units/6 teams (old credits, remaining teams only)
2011-2016 credits will be 7 units/6 teams (old credits, remaining teams only)
2012-2017 credits will be 5 units/6 teams (old credits, remaining teams only)
2013-2018 credits will be 2 units/6 teams (old credits, remaining teams only)

The new teams coming in would really be getting no bball units for a few years until the credits built up, unless someone gets in the tourney and makes a deep run.

This is correct. USM, Marshall, UAB, Tulsa, Rice, and UTEP will be getting a pretty sizable amount of money the new few years.

It is a bribe for basically dropping football.

We won the games but lost the war.

I hope Memphis goes deep in the Tournament this year.

I thought we kept our credits. Of course, I dont really pay attention to any of this so I could be wrong.

I don't think so, unless C-USA dissolves. But I do think you might get to offset the departure fees by the value of the basketball credits you leave behind.

I believe you will get paid for this year's portion of the credits, but since they are paid out over 6 installments, you will be leaving 5/6 of their value with the conference. I could be wrong though, it could be 100% of any credits earned this year are left with the conference.
