the stupidity of recruiting gets even lower now...
Well you thought that recruiting of HS Jrs & their commiting that early was stupid, it's now even stupider thanks to the BCS. I wonder how long it'll be before they allow them to leave HS or even JrHS early like Pros do for college kids 01-wingedeagle

Bobby knight recruited an eighth grader, Damon Bailey, I believe back in the 80s. It has nothing to do with the BCS.

USC offered David Sills when he was in the 7th (2010) and he committed to them.

I am vehemently opposed to schools recruiting kids at such a young age, but I do encourage you guys to watch the kid's tape. Unreal. If kids are going to be that developed at that young of an age, some type of closely monitored AAU (but nowhere near as shady) system needs to be implemented in order to develop these kids at an early age. Moses looks like an incoming Freshman in COLLEGE, not High School.

Kids like Moses should be playing with similarly gifted athletes in summer leagues, and focusing on school during the year, at least until mid-High School. [/align]

Yes, they should forego childhood.

I actually think my concept would grant these kids more of a traditional childhood. Play football during the summer months with kids at your level (which is done in basketball, baseball, golf, tennis, etc.) and then focus on academics during the schools year.

It's having non-stop national attention every week and TV crews at games every weekend that make these kids celebrities. If you educate them about the "business" of recruiting and athletics at an early age and introduce them to other athletes who are in similar situations, the more likely they are to mature and succeed, in my opinion.

Kids that separate themselves from the pack intellectually are able to seek out Magnet Schools and other avenues for getting ahead, why can't elite athletes do the same?

Not interested in watching an 8th grader.

Lots of time left before he gets to college.
