well they definitely need another arm in the pen. it's been great but those guys are gonna get burned out. if they can do that and add another good bat they'd have to feel good about their chances. the two leagues are so wide open

This was a good prediction. I'm not calling for his head yet but I sure wish he had the line you predicted rather than what he does have...

man I knew he'd be bad, but who could've predicted his numbers to look like this? The whole Braves OF trio has been a big disappointment.

Speaking of disappointments, how do you think the Rangers feel? Andrus has a .592 OPS and is signed through 2022! Imagine playing in Arlington and only having 12 XBH through 97 games? But overall there have been a ton of disappointments this season. Off the top of my head we have Sabathia, hamels, Cain, Verlander, Heyward, and the guys mentioned above.

Justin has been hitting a little better as of late but his power seems to have disappeared. Heyward has actually been pretty good since his horrific start to the season.

BJ hasn't had two consecutive good games all year that I can remember.

As a Giants fan how do you feel about Lincecum?

I can't wait till Lincecum is gone. I wasn't the least bit fooled by his lucky no hitter. He has mediocre velocity with no command whatsoever. I don't think he's capable of throwing a knee-high strike. Next year I won't have to watch Zito or Timmy pitch, what a happy thought. Unfortunately I don't know if Cain will ever get back to what he was. You just don't know these days. So many guys seem to have lost it

Hudson out for the remainder of the season with a broken ankle. That's going to make it tough come crunch time.

gruesome injury. I really don't see the Braves being able to take the cards, reds or Dodgers in a short series.

I'm afraid you may be right. It will be interesting to see how Beachy looks now that he'll get called up a little sooner. If he can pitch anything like he did before the injury we might be ok.

I think Beachy would have benefitted from another rehab start but I'm not too worried about him.

I do wonder how this will affect Medlen going to the bullpen.

If I remember correctly I believe Beachy was leading the league in era and strikeouts when he was injured.

don't know about the ERA, but he was only striking out 7.6/9 innings so I doubt he was leading the league in Ks

Yeah he defiñitely wasn't leading the league in Ks then.

Oh well, pump him full of PEDs and get him back out there.

Just realized Heyward is 9 for his last 48 with only 1 HR. Seems like he's cold again

Yeah and Justin is as well. They were both hitting really well before their minor injuries and since the All-star break they haven't done much offensively.

So who do you have in the WS?

At this point I'm thinking the Cardinals and the Red Sox.

well I had the Nationals over the A's when we made our predictions back in march. Since it's clear the Nats are dead in the water I'm gonna stick with the A's and have them losing to the Cardinals. That being said, there are a lot of things that could change. Will the Rays get hitter at the deadline? Will the Orioles get another starter? What will the Pirates do? Will Kemp step up? If he does I can see Kershaw, Greinke and their well rounded lineup go all the way.

I really don't like the teams in the AL. I think the NL's best are more well rounded

our (reds) bullpen isn't even at full strength and they've been dominate recently. we soon will get broxton and marshall back. and the starting pitching has been superb even without our ace. it's that damn inconsistent offense that'll keep us from winning in october. on paper we look fantastic.

i'm thinking dodgers vs. tigers and the tigers winning

I agree, y'all are nasty on paper. From where i'm sitting one of the big problems seems to be Phillips. He's having one of the worst seasons of his career and it clearly isn't helping the middle of the lineup
