$85 billion is the same amount the Fed is pouring into the market EVERY MONTH. Again I ask unto liberals who think we'll be living in pure anarchy after the sequester...what's going to happen when the Fed turns off the QE spigot, or even worse...starts selling off some of the $3+ trillion from its balance sheet?

I'm all for this. Let the cuts start. They won't even be noticed. We should cut our spending by 1/3.

RE: Sequestration
Frankly, after all the fear mongering that the big O has been doing, this is really what the democrats fear. That the sequestration actually happens and people notice that the world didn't end. Then, they might just start thinking that we CAN actually cut spending (really, actually CUT, not slow the rate of increase).

Why do you think that this administration has to make this PAINFUL for the people? Because if they don't, the scam might be up and people will realize that they have been played for suckers. Most importantly, they might just realize that Obama has no intention of EVER cutting any spending, despite all the noise he makes about a 'balanced solution.' How can you cut from a budget if YOU HAVE NO BUDGET? Thanks, Senate Dems, you weasels. Continuing resolutions is no way to run a government.

Actually, polling shows that most Americans don't care and have tuned it out as just another meaningless act of political theatre from yet another manufactured crisis. Same as it has been for the past four years.

Yeah. Me, neither.

Yes, but traffic was great during that time period. I was not complaining.

At the time I lived in Centreville, about 25 miles sw of DC, but worked in Tysons corner so was with the rush hour traffic going into town.

In the end though all of the federal employees were paid for the time they were not working. I am fine with sequestration if it makes people think about what they want government to pay for and how, but do not expect that to happen.

Obama has miscalculated. The Republicans don't care if the government is "right-sized". They're in no hurry to get a deal done. And they'll never do any deal that involves additional taxes; that ship has sailed.

This presidency has just been a cluster.

To a large degree, neither do the American people, despite all the Chicken Littles running around.

They just can't seem to get worked up about a 2% budget "cut".

Hell, they've had to throttle back a helluva lot more than 2% over the last few years.

Especially since with a 2% cut were still spending more than we did in 2011..

Admin says today they expect Republicans to cave on new taxes when sequestration kicks in and the public starts feeling the pain. Hope to God they don't. O has to feel the pain on this one.

The biggest fear right now is that there will be no pain. Even the msm can't help but notice that.

You guys have come a long ways from "I think Reagan proved deficits don't really matter" - Cheney. I mean its impressive how fiscally responsible the GOP has become.

IMO...The sequestration is not large enough. One thing for sure....the Libs can not blame anyone but themselves for it. This is Obama's idea.

The biggest fear right now is that there will be no pain. Even the msm can't help but notice that.

That's preceisely the "pain" that the administration will feel. All of this fear-mongering will be exposed. Reports will be made public on how the sequestor could have gone into effect without the release of illegal detainees, without the threat of 4 hour delays at airport, and so on. The only question is will anybody but Fox, Glenn Beck, and Drudge call him on it. I'm willing to be the MSM goes on for months about how terrible all this is, blaming the Republicans for what amounts to slight inconvience, a some furloughs. Hardly the first time that has every happened.
