Todays scores, standings and scenarios 2/20/13
todays Conference scores (UAB, Rice, SMU and Tulane are off)

East Carolina wins at Tulsa 72- 63
Marshall wins at UCF 82-70
USM beats UTEP at home in a barn smouldering 45-39
Memphis wins at home over Houston 81-74. 17 game win streak is tied for longest in the nation.

Standings after tonight
1. Memphis 12-0
2. USM 10-2
3. UTEP 7-5
UCF 7-5 (ineligible for postseason)
4. ECU 6-6
4. Tulsa 6-6
6. Tulane 5-6
7. Marshall 5-7
8. UAB 4-7
9. Houston 4-8
10. SMU 3-8
11. Rice 1-10

With UCF ineligible the tournament will have 11 teams and the format will change with 5 teams getting byes.
First day will be 8-9, 7-10 and 6-11.
2nd day will be 1 vs (8-9), 2 vs. (6-11), 3 vs (7-10) and 4-5

As it stands now (tiebreakers are incomplete since not all teams have played)

First day
8. UAB vs. 9 Houston
7. Marshall vs. 10. SMU
6. Tulane vs. 11. Rice

Second day.
1. Memphis vs. UAB - Houston winner
2. USM vs. Marshall vs. SMU winner
3. UTEP vs. Tulane - Rice winner
4. ECU vs. 5. Tulsa

If we take care of business, we could easily catapult to the 3 seed in the next 2 weeks. Memphis could potentially stumble @ UTEP and @UCF. I don't think they will.

I just hope we don't wind up in the 8 or 9 seed. Ideally, we probably want to finish to where we would be playing the 2-3 side of the bracket.

1 and 2 are probably wrapped up. We want the 3 or the 6.

6 would open against Rice and then get probably UTEP or Tulsa.

Nah. Nobody except maybe Memphis is going to win out. We also hold tiebreakers over Tulsa and UTEP.
