LOL...dude,until we got football and you guys started that Real GSU crap I had never even interacted with a Georgia Southern fan online. And by care I mean if I told a GSU grad at work we were playing Southern in football tomorrow I would get the same glazed over look I get with most opponents I mention. Traveling to Tennessee and Alabama were big deals to the point that some people bought season tickets simply to get a shot at tickets to those games. If we ever schedule a series vs Georgia Tech, that will be the ultimate for the fan base. Even South Alabama isnt a bad rivalry. There is good natured smack for the most part and I enjoyed my trip to Mobile and the game at Ladd. This Georgia Southern thing is a whole different animal and has a level of ugliness that needs to end. Its ridiculous that we are not playing each other in baseball after all these years.

...about you

That's funny about attendance. As I recall we finished 10th, 18th and 21st in attendance while in FCS. But please do go on with your obsession with us complete with half truths. The truth hurts. And the truth is that in Atlanta our delusional fanbase will not even get out of bed for a non SEC or ACC opponent while GSU travelling to Statesboro for football will be the epic event of the century for you guys complete with the spitting, cussing and general doucheness we have come to expect from our in state brethren, All in all I would rather travel to or host Jacksonville State.

And thank you mods for allowing this crap for now 10 months whereas I was told in no uncertain terms to keep content 1/100 as offensive and contentious about GSU to the Conference Realignment board. Thanks for that.

Yeah, I have not seen that whenever App or Furman visit. Nor did I experience this whenever visiting App or Furman.

Nice Try.

Ask your baseball coach and President. You can no longer ask your former AD. Ask them why you're the only Div I baseball in state school not on our schedule. Like I said, something about us works you guys into a froth.

Yet we play in other sports. Fail.

Looks like we didn't schedule D1 Savannah State in Baseball... must be a conspiracy against the Tigers...

Specifically we are not playing in baseball. I am told its specifically related to our baseball team's last visit to Statesboro.

There are alot of lies that are legal. Attendance reports are one. Just doesnt seem becoming to use what you know is a lie to bolster your argument. Those reports werent a small untruth, they were nearly doubled.

I also dont think App will get "jolly stomped" as much as you think. We may lose a bunch of games, but the great majority of loses wont be "stompings."

Glad we're back on track. And I do hope Ga St gets their house in order. I pull for all of App's opponents when they're not playing App, the better the opponent, the better App will look when they beat them. Or... the less damage when we lose, whichever the case may be.

We do not play Liberty in football, which goes back to the Jerry Falwell era, after our student government requested that move.
North Carolina will not play us in football, been told for decades they do not want to chance the embarrassment of losing to us.
Wake Forest stopped playing us in football after we had so many wins against them, and their coach admitted that was the reason.
Isn't unheard of for the coach of a sport to decide they do not want to play another school, or even the school itself.

If you did it was definitely from your side because I never heard any GSU folks obsessed about you guys. And for the most part beyond some students o Twitter and posters online there really aren't any GSU clamoring for the Southern game on the football schedule. It will happen in 2014. But a possible game against Southern isnt going to generate the same level of interest as some other possible opponents.

Fans are weird. Going 4-8 with 7 close losses is still 4-8 for the average fan (Note: if you post online about your school you are not average). So it will be interesting to see what happens to App and GaSo should either start a season 1-5 or 0-4. What happens to attendance that next home game especially if Georgia and North Carolina are at home will be interesting.

You are really getting upset about a series that took place "all these years".

It seems pure conjecture comes natural to you.

Please enlighten me about an "incident" that took place 6 years ago? Vauge details are not fact.

Why should we worry about playing you when we play Tech, UGA, UF, Clemson, Indiana?

I'd say it also depends on where you lose. App was pretty terrible in 2004. We won every single home game, and lost every single away game. Attendence was up.

Having a great homefield advantage should really help our transition.

Back on track...if the Presidents want to go big, then add all 4 ...JMU, Delaware, App ST and Georgia Southern....but also add NMST and Idaho in football only. this gives the SBC 14/14 as NMST and Idaho would swap after FB with UTA and UALR. Do not forget that we have 2 Oly sports only members in the west division.

West: Louisiana, ULM, Arkansas ST.,Texas ST., WKU, NMST(FB), Idaho(FB), UTA(OLY), UALR(OLY)...
EAST: Delaware, James Madison, App ST, Georgia Southern, Georgia ST., Troy, USA...

That conference would be better than CUSA in football. I do however believe that Deleware thinks they are above the Sun Belt so I think it is very unlikely they or JMU would be interested.

The current SBC IS better than CUSA in football, but I agree, this would be a very strong mid-major football league. That group of schools could be the strongest non AQ league in a very short time.

I also agree that the VA schools are unlikely. If the SBC wants to expand into Virginia, they might have to break down and take the religious extremests at Liberty.

RE: Hot Springs Sun Belt membership discussion
Based upon the criteria of the BCS distribution of money it seems that a successful football program that is the best of the Gof5 could initially bring into a conference an additional $12,000,000 to $15,000,000 in each year ; so there is a lot of pressure on conferences to ensure their conference has a good shot at having the best football team each year in the Gof5.

Additionally the conference with the best football programs have a real upside on new TV and media contracts. Really good football team could easily bring a conference an additional $12,000,000 per year probably in TV and media rights. So $24,000,000 to $27,000,000 more per conference initially is a lot of money for conference presidents and commissioners to consider. Their inclusion of good football schools could make all the difference in the world to a conference, because we are talking about additional money on top of what a conference would already make.
