There have been a lot of posts about EW; I can't remember one that was close to being a "borderline racist rant." As far as what he's done to upset so many people, that's been well documented here on multiple occasions.

How dare I acknowledge that there are multiple layers to people's antipathy to Williams, including the impression I have of him as obstructionist.

Chicago, like many northern cities in the 50s-70s, might as well have been the deep south. The history of racism is undeniable. And some faction of NIU alumni are bound to have grown up watching their parents or neighbors lose their **** over the prospect of integration in their neighborhood or town or of even electing Harold Washington. Three most racist person I ever met was the son of a Chicago firefighter who was at NIU and basically bragged on how much the families in his neighborhood hated Black people.

That's gonna unintentionally mold how some people view a guy like Williams. Most people acknowledge he's bad at his job, but acting like something else doesn't add a little extra to why some people hate him so much is to be in denial of how people actually think.

I think hiring family members and using university phones and things for personal use is wrong, but I don't see why that would make people hate someone. Williams is like a Chicago and Illinois politician. Racism has had a long history at NIU and everywhere in America, quite frankly. I believe part of the bball programs demise is rooted in racism. I remember hearing about the black players revolt during a game, but not sure why? NIU is a school where its student body comes from mostly segregated schools. It is a very toxic mix. The reason people bring up race is because it still exist. I don't know if race had anything to do with Gradys situation, but if you found out it did no one would be shocked.

Most people don't even know him, much less have ANY idea what his job is............again, seemingly blind hatred for no apparent reason. It must be okay to criticize Rob Judson but not Ricardo Patton. Everyone on this board must be racist because we all criticzed Patton. (We criticized Judson, too, but that does not count.)

I dislike politicians. All politicians. I must be prejudiced because there are black politicians (even though I dislike the white ones, too).

Some of you need to get a life and stop blaming every criticism on racism.

The Norther Star has done a few different articles on his kids who work at NIU and more specifically his daughter who has received uber raises.

MANY people under EW have gotten in legal trouble and he has not be blamed for being a poor manager because he can't control his people.

Dogfan, I didn't say you couldn't criticize anyone. I didn't say if you criticize someone who is black that makes you racist. I just pointed out things in the history of NIU. Many people felt Patton was hired because NIU needed a black coach to help with recruiting Chicago. If that's true than even people at NIU acknowledge their could be a problem with how people perceive NIU.

I think someone even posted the ad or a link to it. It showed a university telephone number on an ad for a private company. That is against university and state regulations. The use of a state telephone for personal business is a big no-no.

Believe me, I'm sure that Peters and the BOT are familiar with EW. There could be a reason why EW has not been fired. I have known many people who should be fired but had not been for one reason or another.

I have said before if Peters had knowledge of any shenanigans then he needed to be gone too...an he is out the door so there is no need to harp on that more.

If the BOT is in bed with EW then we are all screwed. Its more like they were not able to do something without an outside force putting pressure on them or EW.
