We are lucky that we sold so many season tickets because now that everyone knows we suck we would never sell 5,000+ to a game not against Memphis.

RE: CUSA Hoop Attendance Rankings (2/18/13)
Charlotte is now averaging 6222. Should go up a bit more after this Sunday's game against Temple. I figure we'll finish the season out around 6,400-6,500.

Not too bad.

I was hoping ECU was going to be able to finish the season above 5k, but doesn't appear to be in the cards.

I'm surprised that UAB is able to maintain an average over 4,000 with the rebuilding season. Excited to see what the numbers look like when Haase really gets things going.

I was hoping we'd be closer to 10K this year. Although with the recruiting class, I could see us at 10K next year.

Glad to see us #4, but wish our numbers were a little higher. At least our C-USA average is over 5,000.

Middle Tennessee is averaging 5273 at home. I expect that number to go up a little bit this week with our last 2 home games. Last year we averaged 6-8k our last couple games and I expect something similar for the final home push this year.

RE: CUSA Hoop Attendance Rankings (2/18/13)
Both Oklahoma U and Okla State U are really, really struggling with their basketball attendance. Two factors are cited. First, the NBA Oklahoma City Thunder is a sellout, night after night. For many OU and OSU fans living in OKC, this appeals, a very short trip to the arena, and the arena is in Bricktown, with its restaurants and shops. Why drive to Stillwater or Norman, when the bigger show is closer and in a fun setting of Bricktown?

The second factor is the high cost of football tickets to a regular game and high cost of season football tickets. People will choose to spend the extra money required for football. That is true. What also appears true is they forgoe buying basketball tickets at OU and OSU.

OSU expanded Gallagher-Iba basketball arena from 8,000 to I think somewhere around 12 or 14 thousand, I am not really sure. But anyway, OSU is averaging a bit of 7,000. In the old days, you coulnd't get a ticket to the 8,000 capacity arena and it rocked inside with its coziness and packed crowd. Today, that 7,000 crowd creates a very subdued environment as it is swallowed by the expanded arena.

I don't follow MTSU bball much, except to notice that they've had a really good season this year.

Is your coach likely to hang around? Is MTSU willing to invest a lot in its program?

RE: CUSA Hoop Attendance Rankings (2/18/13)
Considering our play this year is the equivalent of a middle school team, being 3rd in the league in attendance is a great testament to our supportive fan base. We just plain suck in basketball this season.

Memphis' numbers are tickets sold not attendance. I have been to every home game this year and only the Louisville game attendance was close to what was announced.

Yep, Coach Davis will be around for a while. He's been here for a long time already - 10 seasons. His system is finally starting to work, and I think the program he's built lately will stick around. Attendance is skyrocketing (we used to consider 3,000 a good crowd; now that would be 8,000) and the Murphy Center has undergone a ton of renovations lately including 4 corner videoboards in addition to the 2 jumbrotrons, a new sound system, roof replacement, and a new lighting system. There's more I'm forgetting but you get the point

I think Middle will invest in winners in any sport. I imagine Davis' next contract will lock him up for some time, probably in the 8-10 year range. (i just hope he continues his winning ways.)
