Josh's parents are in Houston.

I think he could be persuaded to leave for some opportunities, but not for many. If it happens, then it happens and we just go get the best coach available. If not, I am perfectly happy for Josh to be our coach for the next umpteen years.

RE: Pastner's Future
Funny how people now talk about Pastner's future!... A few months ago after the early losses, a lot of us including myself were questioning really hard Pastner's coaching skills...

The truth to the matter, I don't want to take anything away from Pastner but his desperate gamble on Geron Johnson paid off... Geron is one of the biggest reasons Memphis is competitive this year... Other Tiger players have contributed on their own way to be fair, but I doubt it we'd be this better this time of the year..

My humble two cents.. Thank you

Josh IS a great recruiter, no doubt, but could it be possible that he is getting EVEN BETTER at recruiting? He's learning how to read and gauge players as to their potential as Memphis Tigers. The new class of guys coming in this fall should help solidify this theory.

Really?

The blind loyalty and defense of EVERYTHING that the coach does? Yeah, right, no one on here pretty much buys into EVERYTHING Josh says and does.

With Josh's recruiting skills, he definitely does not need to take "desperate gambles". He saw something special in Geron, I would not call it a desperate gamble.

RE: Pastner's Future
Think that there is definitely a better chance of his leaving now than any other year. There will be a show down between him and Bowen having to do with Bowen forcing his to schedule game that Pastner does not want to play. I believe if Pastner is NOT given veto power over scheduling that he could be looking elsewhere in the future. He has earned that right.

If Josh can take his success and parlay it into more money for his family and himself, then I would applaud the young man.

If the new AD keeps going behind CJP's back on things that affect the BBall program, I would not be surprised to see CJP walk and never look back.

I know I would...

Unlike the individual that you silently allude to, Josh has integrity that was sorely lacking in the former coach. People still don't realize that Josh appears to be a person that values loyalty on a high level. He originally came to Memphis as an assistant because Arizona showed him no loyalty when they hired someone over him as the lead assistant there. If he says he wants to stay here until he retires, I for one believe him and have no fear he will jump for Arizona at first chance. that bridge went down in flames long ago. He just has the character to not say it publicly. YMMV!

RE: Pastner's Future
The issues Josh has, that would make someone reconsider the Memphis job, will mostly go away when he wins a few games in the tournament.
The heat wont be anywhere near as high once he makes a run.
Calipari was King of Memphis when he was winning, Josh will be also.

RE: Pastner's Future
What Memphis has here is fools gold, we barely scrape by on a meager budget, our facilities beside the Forum are drawfed by 40 other BCS programs, and our fan base is manic/depressive. The big money guys wanted Pastner out last year after the first round exit, and two months ago before we started winning. Given the public spats in the media between Pastner and our AD along with everything that goes on behind closed doors Pastner would be on the first thing smoking if he's given a job with any amount of support related to what he recieves here which is overblown considerably, unless Pastner thinks he can win a title here at Memphis next year he's gone although I don't think that offer will be there at years end unless something crazy happens.

If the "big money" people wanted Josh out he would be gone. Your WAG story lacks credibility.

Maybe. But do they really care about hoops? How many big time coaches have they hired? I guess Rick Barnes was big, but he came from Clemson which is the runt of the ACC. They've also had Tom Penders and Abe Lemon not exactly two that get the juices flowing.
