This is silly and anecdotal, but...
I was listening to the radio today (I think AM 560) and they were giving the usual top of the hour update with scores and highlights from across the country,

Whoever was doing the update gave the final score of the Florida-Auburn game and said that Florida got a "very good road win."

Auburn is 9-16 and their RPI is somewhere around 217.

I thought it was funny.

Josh Pastner agrees: "Good, great team, very well coached!"

If we had been playing them our coach would have called them final four contenders.

Ah well, it is funny and all but he knows what he is doing. He just needs to mix it up some. He is like a broken recorded when talking about teams. I think he said the exact same things about Rice as he did Southern Miss and UFC...and every other team for that matter.

I guess this is an attempt at humor. I too am tired of the Superbowl talk, but I don't recall Pastner ever saying anything like that. I bet you still guffaw at the tired Houston's ranch dressing "jokes".

How much longer can Barbee last in that job?

I was in Bham Thursday & Fri for my youngest childs Presidential scholarship interview to Samford and tuned into WJOX looking for Paul Finebaum on the radio.

He's not on radio any longer but the hosts were discussing Barbee at Auburn and Anthony Grant at Bama.

The theme was how much longer were they going to be coaching at those schools.

Especialy considering that the conference was and had been down and they haven't met expectations.

They seemed to agree that Barbee definitely wasn't getting the job done at AU and would be out sooner than later.

Just close our eyes and say a prayer to the Almighty thanking him for Barbee not becoming our coach.

True....and thank Saint Cal for that one....if he hadn't pizzed some major donors off BIG time as he was leaving, he just might have ended up our coach. Can you even imagine ?

In other SEC action, Kentucky lost a nailbiter on the road, and UT knocked off the defending National Champs. Both teams solidified their tournament resumes, and the SEC blah blah blah...

Why was CJP chosen then, as he was part of cals staff too?

Let me try to put this nicely....Saint Cal wanted VERY MUCH for Barbee to coach Memphis and went about trying to make that happen in an oh so Calipari way.

hard to say barbee would've been an epic disaster, he was ok at UTEP.

I'm not sure anybody can really succeed at auburn, they've made the ncaas 8 times in their history. Just a place that doesn't care about basketball.

Apparently, they were a 1 seed in 1999 though? I must've missed it since it was one of the years the real tigers were so decrepit. that auburn team had mamadou n'diaye and chris porter

all that said, at memphis our ceiling would've been utep's ceiling probably
