Basically, here is the story from BasketballEagle on BGN.

For everyone to get a clear picture, these are the facts behind the Lashay Page story:
Due to his mother's death during last season, leaving him to need to support his sisters and kids, he sought a transfer closer to home, to play for the University of South Carolina
Donnie Tyndall was hired in April to replace Larry Eustachy, who left for, among other reasons, "an extra zero on the paycheck", "bigger budget", "because you have to ride horseback to get to Hattiesburg", and because "you know how the South is, its a football area, they just don't get it down there." These were his words, in a radio interview last week
DT tried to get Page to stay, but when he couldn't make up his mind, he asked him to go ahead and transfer.
As a parting shot to Southern Miss, Eustachy called Floyd and told him to go after Page, telling him it would be easy to get him and that Southern Miss wouldn't know any better or care enough about basketball to block the transfer -- I am paraphrasing here, I don't know the exact words, but it was something to that effect.
Tim Floyd called DT to ask if he could speak to Lashay -- being nice and not really believing anything would come of it, after all he was transferring to be closer to his family not further away, DT said ok, unaware of course of the relationship of Floyd and Eustachy.
When Page became serious about going to UTEP, General Hammond publicly blocked the transfer, ending that little cherade.
When he was told no, Floyd became irate and barged into the athletic center calling for Hammond's head, cursing at everyone he saw including the General, in the words of some that witnessed "he was certifiably crazy, a lunatic" and "completely crazy"
So that, my friends, will be what sets the stage for the game Wednesday night...
Eustachy left us in better shape than he found us, there is no denying that, but he created this scheme as a parting shot to the University that gave him another chance. And in that interview last week, although given multiple chances by the host, Bobby Cremins, Eustachy made no reference to being given that second chance by USM, or talking about the players, his players, and their accomplishments this season at all. He's winning by starting 5 seniors this year, here's to seeing Colorado State return to mediocrity in the next few years... And Southern Miss becoming the next mid-major powerhouse with the best coach in the country leading the way...
wow I wasn't aware of that interview. Guess he is headed to another fall if he doesn't learn to be a little more respectful of the ones who gave him a chance. I feel about as let down with that as I did when M.K. Turk decided Amway was better than coaching basketball at Southern Miss and did a half a job with his overwhelming ego left even less in check. Hope the new coach will show some class should he leave and at the worse just keep a decent tongue. I suspect Tyndall is too classy for such garbage, but in day when trash talk is seen as cool you never know.
