But I can't picture the ACC agreeing to hold the tourney in MSG every year, or 5 years in a row.

Yeah, C7 and ACC could alternate use of MSG for their hoops tournaments. C7 could play in DC or Indy or Chicago when they're not in MSG. I would think that the ACC only wants to use MSG once every few years, but who knows.

No reason why the C7 and ACC couldn't both share MSG. They'll get something done 04-cheers

Actually there is a well published escape clause in case of massive membership changes. Guess what has happened the last 6 months?

If MacDonald's is your idea of haute cuisine, then I feel sorry for you. I'd rather eat at Tudor's Biscuit World...

Never said it was. Just stating how behind the times WV is.

Some people kind of like 'behind the times' especially it is to the point that most places look the same. Same strip malls, same franchise stores, etc ..

The author Tom Wolfe actually wrote about that phenomenon (all places look the same) in his novel "A Man in Full". Made the point that the only way you can tell you've gone from one "place" to another "place" is that you see a new batch of the same restaurants and outlet stores.

Nope. The first one opened in Des Plaines, Illinois on April 15th 1955...

Don't judge the entire state by the armpit (Knoxville) that you live in.

I wonder if nBE will stay in New York or if they will head elsewhere.

As far as the Aresco Group and NYC are concerned, March 2014 is the last rodeo, IMHO.

After that? Cincinnati, Dallas, Hartford, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Orlando, Philadelphia, and Tampa are the leading contenders until further notice.

I've been to the tri cities, Chattanooga, Nashville, and Memphis. Trust me, I'm not making any judgement based on Knoxville alone...

I live in NY, Ive read a ton of articles on conference realignment and check this board regularly. I have not once seen anything about an escape clause on MSG. Link? Source?

You don't follow realignment closely if you haven't heard of the clause.

The departing seven will certainly approach Madison Square Garden to house their conference tournament in 2016. MSG has signed up with the Big East for another five years, but a source said the arena can adjust as conference memberships change. It’s hard to see how MSG would want the old Big East in the building when the only local school would be UConn. It is in MSG’s best interest to keep a tie with its primary college basketball tenant (St. John’s) and its brand names (Georgetown and Villanova).

Ive read Robbins article before - it just said MSG would have no interest. Didnt say anything about an escape clause, etc.

Katz article cites a source but there is aready wrong info next to it - BE and MSG signed til 2026. Katz claims 5 more years. Just like 5 years more, is escape clause untrue as well?

While it may be true there is an escape clause, not one official person has claimed it yet. I follow realignment just fine. Only 1 writer has written of it so far and its questionable.

The Big East has held its tournament at Madison Square Garden every year since 1983 and has a contract to play its tournament at MSG through 2026, but arena executives could exercise an out clause because all of the conference’s defections.
