College Football News 2013 CUSA Schedule Breakdown
Louisiana Tech

Non-Conference Games: at NC State, Lamar, at Kansas, Army
Games Against the East: at FIU, Southern Miss
Realistic Best Case Record: 8-4
Worst Case Record: 5-7
Likely Finish: 6-6

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Lamar, Tulane, North Texas, at FIU, Southern Miss, at UTSA

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at NC State, at Kansas, Army, at UTEP, at Rice, Tulsa

Summary: The Bulldogs are finally in a league that makes more geographic sense, but there are still enough winnable games to come up with a big year. Going to NC State to start the season isn’t an automatic loss, while getting Lamar and Tulane at home could get the Skip Holtz era off to a nice start before going to Kansas. The problem will be finding time to get settled at home with just one game in Joe Aillet from September 14th to November 9th. The Army game is in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas – the run defense has to be night-and-day better by then – coming In between trips to Kansas and UTEP. Getting FIU and Southern Miss from the East would’ve been a huge break last season, but the teams should be better this time around. Beating Tulsa in the home finale could be vital to having any shot of winning the West.

2013 Schedule
8/31 at NC State
9/7 Lamar
9/14 Tulane
9/21 at Kansas
9/28 Army (in Dallas)
10/5 at UTEP
10/12 OPEN DATE
10/19 North Texas
10/26 at FIU
11/2 OPEN DATE
11/9 Southern Miss
11/16 at Rice
11/23 Tulsa
11/30 at UTSA

They project LTU to lose to UTEP? I like it but I'll believe it when I see it.

I took a look at the UTEP projection on that site and they predict UTEP to lose to LTU. So I guess both teams get an L for that game. lol

I know you guys are going through a coaching transition but Army? and 1-11 Kansas as projected losses? Given your prior history, I only see NC State and Tulsa as possible roadblocks from running the table(unless you lost your entire starting offense and defense from last year). If you did lose all those players, then we'll beat you too. 04-cheers

RE: College Football News 2013 CUSA Schedule Breakdown
I don't put much into stuff like this article. I don't see how you can predict winners in games mid or late season when you haven't even see a spring game or practice. If you look at the pre-spring picks back before last season I would guess you would see USM being picked to have a winning season with few loses and how tough we would be against Nebraska, Boise State, and how we could beat Louisville and Western Kentucky. Well, I certainly thought we would finish at worse 6-6 with a bowl game but even that proved to be way too much optimism. I would figure La. Tech will be tough and they will do well, but fact is until we lace em up, we really don't know.

West should come down between Rice & TU
ECU & Marshall look like the fav's in the East

& much like the WAC's last season
In 2013
Conf USA could have up to 4 teams reach the 10+ win plateau.

I agree with you, although USM could be "back" much sooner than later; they still have plenty of talent.

I would think that we'll see ECU at Tulsa in the CUSA Championship game. ECU has to get by USM at home and MT on the road. UAB will be MUCH better as well.

As for Tulsa, they will have to contend with Rice. I don't expect LT to be that great in their first year under Holtz... and that's not a knock on him; I just think that the offense will change just enough to challenge them for the first half of the season at least.

Marshall

Non-Conference Games: Miami University, Gardner-Webb, at Ohio, at Virginia Tech
Games Against the West: at Tulsa, UTSA
Realistic Best Case Record: 10-2
Worst Case Record: 6-6
Likely Finish: 9-3

Pre-Preseason Projected Wins: Miami University, Gardner-Webb, at Ohio, UTSA, at Florida Atlantic, at Middle Tennessee, Southern Miss, UAB, at FIU

Pre-Preseason Projected Losses: at Virginia Tech, at Tulsa, East Carolina

Summary: There’s no West Virginia this season, but going to Ohio will be sneaky-tough before hitting the road to face Virginia Tech. Fortunately, the conference start couldn’t be any easier with UTSA and road games at Florida Atlantic and Middle Tennessee wrapped around two bye weeks. Follow those up against a Southern Miss team that went winless last year and a good, not great, UAB squad, and everything should set up nicely for a possible Conference USA title game preview at Tulsa. The season could revolve around the regular season finale against East Carolina.

2013 Schedule
8/31 Miami University
9/7 Gardner-Webb
9/14 at Ohio
9/21 at Virginia Tech
9/28 OPEN DATE
10/5 UTSA
10/12 at Florida Atlantic
10/19 at Middle Tennessee
10/26 OPEN DATE
11/2 Southern Miss
11/9 UAB
11/16 at Tulsa
11/23 at FIU
11/30 East Carolina

I know LA Tech is going to be real young this year. But no Charlie Weis team would scare me. Weis is a good asst. but he is a horrible HC. Kansas won one game last year. They beat South Dakota St by 14, 31-17. A team they should have blown out. They should have give you a win here or at least a toss up.

I'm not worried about them, but still don't know how the next Tech QB will come out playing
