Pierce did not go the distance. He pitched 7 innings and gave up 1 run. JUCO transfer Sean Bucholz pitched the last 2 innings giving up 1 run on three hits in the 9th.

Pierce went seven. Buchholz threw the last two.

The usual Pierce line: 7 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 8 K, 1 BB, 1 HBP

Two of those hits were infield.

He allows runners, but rarely lets teams string things together.

Offense wasn't very strong, but made Mizzou pay for their mistakes.

My bad. Had to stop listening in the fifth. Checked back in the ninth and thought Pierce was still pitching. Thanks for correcting that. Still a great win for the Eagles to start the year.

Robbins really struggled today. Hopefully just opening day jitters. We have to have his bat going strong. When he can struggle and we still win, it is a good day though.

He was bad against left-handers last year. I hope he fixed it and this was just opening day jitters like you said. He's got to start working the count better if he's going to take the next step as a player.
