Welp, we relapsed.
A lot of the same things that plagued us in January resurfaced this evening. Disappointing to see, but not unexpected. Hopefully we will respond effectively Saturday vs the worst team in the league.

We only need 3 more wins to keep Murry in his rightful place in the annals of suckage, and I think we'll get them. On another note, Lebo has mindf***ed ever since we beat him to cut down the nets in Bartow Arena. ECU now moves closer to a first round bye. This loss now puts us 2 games back from a first round bye with 6 games left to play.

Great late game run for us though. We just couldn't finish it off, but I liked the fight. If we hadn't pooped the bed to start the 2nd half, we would have been fine.

RE: Welp, we relapsed.
Yet again, I think the poor shooting from 3 combined with ECU's good shooting doomed us in this one. I think we still have a chance to win some more games with a relatively favorable stretch to finish the year. Hopefully they will find their shooting touch again by Saturday.

RE: Welp, we relapsed.
Just like USM's quick 7-0 run doomed us in Birmingham, the Pirates pushed it from 4 to 16 in a few minutes span before we scored again. I do like the fact that the team never quits. Good effort at the end, but that drought combined with an off night from three was the clincher.

Remind me to stay away from the conference board for a few days.

We'd missed you on this board when we won a couple of games.

Rice is not a gimme on Saturday. While they haven't won a road game yet, they have been playing games close.

Your appearance after a loss says all that needs to be said.

We are who we thought we were. Help is coming next season. That said it would be nice to make a little run but we just don't have the horses. Who knows? Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle down the stretch but I have no more expectations for this season so I am not worked up over any losses. best thing is to set a foundation for the future. It looks like at least one more recruiting class before we crawl out of this.

This. The season has been up and down. Sometimes we look like we can play with anybody, others we look like a team still trying to figure things out. We all knew this season wasn't going to be smooth sailing. Hopefully, we can get to 7 wins i the conference and win a game or two in the tournament. Anything to build off of is positive at this point. I think the team will be much more consistent next year, and we should have the depth Haase needs to play the way he wants to. I don't think we will go 16-0 in conference play, but I think we should see a good improvement. The ceiling on next year's team should be in the low to mid 20's. This year, we knew the ceiling was pretty much in the high teens, or maybe 20 wins if everything went perfectly. If the team still looks like this next season, there will be a reason to be concerned. Until then, I like what Haase is doing so far, and I refuse to dwell on every loss.

Unless Middle Tennessee, Charlotte and La Tech loses a lot of players this year, next year, CUSA will be a lot tougher.

Charlotte beat Butler yesterday, just to note it.

RE: Welp, we relapsed.
Yep. I want as many good teams as possible in the league. That gives us more opportunities for big wins. We need Marshall and North Texas to rebound from miserable seasons. Both of those teams have talent, so there is hope. Until I see something that indicates otherwise, Rice, UTSA, FAU, and FIU are constantly going to be RPI killers on the schedule. That means we need more good teams to balance them out.

Charlotte is tough. I really look forward to seeing them again. I have some great memories of some terrific all-time contests with them back in my early days of UAB fandom/undergrad...
