I was watching the game. Tough to see and hear. Noel ran full speed into the padded metal base of the goal, hitting his left knee first. Immediately screamed and crumpled. Kept screaming. Teammates carried him off the court.

No official diagnosis yet, but Florida training staff tweeted it could be a patellar tendon rupture (dislocated knee). If accurate, it would require surgery, with a prognosis of full recovery in 6-12 months. No athletic activity for a minimum of 4 months.

Hate to see it. He is projected as the #1 draft pick.

I don't feel bad for the jackazz UK fans, though.

Watching the video it's difficult to establish a good educated guess. I didn't see his knee buckle or hyperextend. It looks like he landed and his knee was not fully extended and then his knee struck the support. It could be something serious or a whole lot of nothing (relatively). Because he has the knee sleeve on I can't ascertain if there is a deformity (like you would see in dislocated knee cap (patella). Patellar tendon rupture is a possibility (should be picked up on physical exam and plain x-rays). Ligamentous injury cannot be ruled out at this time (ACL, MCL, etc.). I'm sure he'll get MRI sooner rather than later. Agree that I hate to see this happen to anyone, even a UK player (that last part was tough for me to say/type). Best of luck to this young man.

i tore my patella tendon completely and broke my kneecap into 3 pieces, the pain was so intense i started dry heaving and going into shock. this kid has a long road back. awful.

Sympathy for the kid.

Boy their fan-base- as represented on the Internet- is just awful.

Was watching the game when he got hurt. The Florida crowd was quiet and respectful while he was on the floor, and cheered...loudly, when he was carried off. Carried off by his team, obviously with the approval of the ky trainer who was out there too.

So, ky fans mock Florida for not having stretchers...being third rate (Florida- third rate). As though had ky trainer wanted a stretcher, FL had none. The x-rays are done at Shands...med school very close.

Ghastly.

A few non-cretins keeping them in check.

I hate seeing that. Let's keep in mind that these are all young men out there no matter who they play for. Nerlens Noel was projected to be a top 3 pick in the NBA draft this summer, so this is a big setback for the young man.

Just think if there is no one year rule.

His team still has too much talent not to make the NCAA tourney. If it doesn't...Cal should apologize to all the UK fans. (What few aren't still drinking his Makers Mark alcoholic beverages 8-)~ ...)
