As he should be.
He's on the hotseat because an alum bought them a new arena and he's positioned himself to quietly call the shots.

RE: The official Broncos @ Bowling Green gamethread!
Hawk's interview:
The turnover bug bit us.
We missed the front end of one/ones.
Lost 24 points off turnovers.
Hawk says "it's the coaches fault".
Hawk decides he wants to be a color analyst.
We'd have a better record if we didn't lose to Ohio, Ball State, and Bowling Green.
Hutch is a tough minded kid. He's got 1000 points. He guarded Crawford real good.
We didn't do bad defensively in the half court, until their big guys started doing some damage.
We will go back home and play NIU, then a week and half to correct some things.
We can still be a pretty good basketball team.
Some of the kids are in shooting slumps.
We're struggling at the free throw line.
We need to watch some film.
We need to go back to junior high school and study the fundamentals.
Calhoun is a good basketball player. So is Jordan Crawford.
We need to crowd the opponents so they don't get their shots off.
We'll go back home and get back to work.
Darius knee is bothering him. He is struggling.
Connar is undersized. We are turning the ball over.
You can't do that.

The coach didn't miss almost every free throw or make one stupid turnover after another. Also being outscored about 21-0 from three. THE PLAYERS LOST THIS GAME... IS WAS EMBARASING. Very ugly.

RE: The official Broncos @ Bowling Green gamethread!
Looking at the stats:
18 turnovers. Richie with zero assists and four turnovers. Scored 14 points, half of which came after the game had already been decided. That's not going to cut it. His entry passes to the post were generally terrible and he continues to pick up his dribble in awkward spots on the court.
Hutcheson with five turnovers. He did do a very good job on Crawford though, who went 4-10 for 13 points and six turnovers.
Whittington with 13 points and 15 rebounds but left at least six points on the floor by not being able to finish short-range looks.
Darius Paul only played 14 minutes. His line: two points, three rebounds, one steal, one turnover.
We were 13-26 from the line. That is just awful. Average high school teams shoot better than that. Brown, Whittington and Paul were a combined 2-10.
We shot 3-15 from three. Pokley and Brown a combined 1-8. Yikes.
Grabbing 18 offensive rebounds means nothing when you don't capitalize on the extra opportunities.
Other thoughts:
Playing Brown and Perry at the point is an obvious desperation move. Absolutely hate it. Why not give Klein more of a look? He didn't do much in his seven minutes, but you need to at least give an actual point guard a look. Just an incredibly short-sighted and desperate move.
AJ Avery needs to be getting at least some of Loney's minutes. He can finish plays Loney can't. I wish I had a dollar for every feed to Loney near the basket that he can't take to the rim and turns to kick out because he's giving up four inches to the guy guarding him. Best-case scenario out of these plays has been a kickout that wastes the drive or take it up into the defender and get bailed out with a bad call. It's unbelievably frustrating to watch, intangibles be damned. Doing what the coach asks of you and being good at basketball are two entirely different things.
David Brown looks worn out the last two games. The energy he was playing with seems to have disappeared. Just watching him, he doesn't have the same hop in his step the last two nights. Hopefully he's just going through a rough stretch and it isn't the sign of an injury or a larger problem.
Pokley and Brown have been non-factors the last two games.
Tava and Perry brought good energy off the bench. Perry looked very good when he was being used in his appropriate role and not being forced to bring the ball up the court. Made some nice drives in the first half. Would like to see him be that aggressive more often. Would have liked to see the offense run through Tava more in the high post. He was making smart passes and being a difference-maker at the end of the first half, and we never saw that look again the rest of the night.

Won the East in his second year there. Has finished no better than 5th each of the last 3 years. Why shouldn't he be on the hot seat?

no bro, you missed this one...Hawk was going with offense and defense substitutions here and in the change of possession Perry was forced to bring the ball up...same thing at times with Brown..

Probably did miss that. Still don't think Brown should ever be the guy to bring the ball up the court. That happened several times at BSU too.

turnovers happen..one of those was an offensive charge call. obviously you can see what he can do when he plays like a scorer, he scored. was he supposed to quit playing? he's still young and has done a lot of good things this year.

again, turnovers are going to happen...

agree, can't miss bunnies, and gotta do a better job defensively in the post...he will be fine.

Paul hasn't played well in a long time. Period.

have a feeling that we are not working on these much in practice.

again, Perry is not playing the point, this happens when Hawk goes to the offense / defense substitution strategy and the possession changes before you can get your PG back in..happened with Brown too, although they did take a look at Brown at PG and Richie at the 2 in the 1st half which I thought was interesting..
Tava and Perry can bring energy off the bench, just not for extended periods of time...spot minutes only..
The Broncos will be fine.

RE: The official Broncos @ Bowling Green gamethread!
Pretty disappointed in the outcome last night.
Bottom line is this...
50% from charity stripe, missing 13.
18 turnovers, plenty were unforced
We won't win another road game if that continues. You can't do that on the road and expect to win. Toledo and EMU will hand us our lunch if we do that.
Before the Ball St game, I was very optimistic that we would, at the very least, win 2 of the next 4 road games. That's still in play, but the odds are likely against us right now.
NIU
@Toledo
@EMU
Ball St
CMU
I like that we finish at home...but those two road games are looming.
Toledo's remaining schedule:
@CMU
WMU
Ball St
NIU
@EMU

Good home teams are a dime a dozen. Road warriors are rare. Think back when we last had a team who went on the road and won. That is very telling with our MACC results as of late.
This young crew is different on the road.
