It kills me reading posts by fans of schools not yet in the nBE slamming the current members as though they are entitled to something.

They did leave an existing condition with the expectation that it wasn't going to blow up in their faces like it has. Aresco sold everyone a bill of goods - goods that were already rotten.

Imagine that half of the ACC were to run from you tomorrow and join other conferences now that you've left the Big East to join an ACC that included them. That's what these C-USA schools are whining about.

It still doesn't mean you are entitled to anything. Your school made a decision & took a risk. Talk of the Big East imploding is nothing new so your BOT & administration can't say this was completely unexpected.

Why don't we just bring in UConn and Cincy for whatever amount of time they require to find membership in the Big 12 or ACC? It's effectively stopping at 10 as many want, but getting the 12 teams Fox wants. That would then give the 2 football votes to dissolve the conference and take the name. When they do d a foot home, you then just pick up the best Teo. The conference will always have its pick.

It's a mutually benefial short term agreement

If the conference dissolves I think we have to give a lot of schools their money back.

Dissolving the conference gives Syracuse, Louisville, West Virginia and Pitt their credits. But with Cincy and UConn, that's 9 votes out of 10. You can do a lot with 9 votes out of 10.

I don't want Cincy. I want UConn, but I don't know if I _should_ want them or if it's sentiment and second-marriage syndrome.

Don't mistake what I was saying. I wasn't saying to "add" the two. Only take the two for a few years, essensially killing off BEFRA. After you have the name who cares how long they are around? You can then just add two of these other teams.

RE: Comedy Hour on the Big East board
Actually if you held 9/10 votes (or however many you would have), then all you would have to do is simply eject the incoming members that you do not see fit OUT of the conference. You'd have a landslide vote in that situation, right?

You could have a conference featuring:

Marquette, Villanova, Georgetown, St. Johns, Seton Hall, Providence, Depaul, Cincinnati, UConn, Butler/<insert A 10 program here>

You'd be ejecting: Tulane, UCF, USF, Memphis (although you might want them), Temple (although you might want them), ECU, UH, and SMU.

With those eight now homeless, you could add them to the pool of teams that you could recruit from - and YOU would dictate terms. None of them would return to C-USA (which in their eyes is a sinking ship). Instead of having to take ALL of the programs, you could decide that you only want one or two every 10-15 years. You could also leave them all begging and take none 03-wink.

We could do that, but that would be lawsuit-tastic. Not worth it, just in terms of the bitterness and goodwill between the universities.

We'd have the power to be first-class jackwagons, but not really a reason to. It would serve our purposes just as well to leave USF and the incoming schools with the shell of a conference and 1/11 of the Big East credits. (Exit fees probably aren't happening at that point.)

I wouldn't mind taking one or both of Cincinnati and UConn for a little bit. Personally, right now I am favoring going with Xavier, Butler, Creighton, UConn, and one other candidate. Just don't plan on building the conference around those schools; they are nothing more than a temporary stop-gap to give the real members of the conference more time.

someone started a thread over there stating that the nbc contract offer was "leaked" by villanova (and maybe georgetown) to cause instability in the nbe and weaken its core
