I've been fooled by highlight videos before but I'm inclined to agree with you. However, he has a lot of work to do on his body to be a real threat. I am more excited about Deshaun Morman. That guy looks all kinds of athletic and seems to love attacking the rim. His offer sheet really surprised me.

hopefully, the new big men will show our vets how to score inside the paint. I just hope this team doesn't screw up so bad the rest of the season that Jermaine Lawrence changes his mind before the signing date. I'm sick of Mbodj and Nyarsuk with a basketball in their hands on offense. The foreigners from africa haven't been much of a plus for UC and Adam H wasn't much of an ambassador of Poland basketball either. Mick needs to stick with the US. Players with skills. ALso, Mick needs to not go 100 per cent with quicker , athletic players when there are a ton of slower players that can stick free throws and hit jumpers a lot better than what we've seen for a while.
I support Mick Cronin, just wish he'd adjust better on recruiting. He definitely needs some key recruits to get better while they're here.

Or hire a coach that can develop those players, see Dieng at UL or Thabeet formally of UConn among many other success stories. But without someone who can teach big men yeah I agree with you, problem is talented big men are the most sought after hs players.

Pretty sure that Thabeet is the first, and maybe only, first round draft pick to be sent to the d-league. How good could he have been coached up?

I don't worry about the NBA, he turned into a pretty good college player.

How about Wangmene at Texas, Tchienggang at Vandy, Keita at Syracuse, Gueye at Alabama, Yarou at Villanova to name a few.

Hopefully Morman qualifies because I agree with you. The guy looks tough. I also like what ive seen from strickland. He has been putting up some good numbers against some good competition. The little lefty hook Ive been hearing about is also a good sign of things to come. Defending a lefty can get tricky on some big men and if hes able to create space with a shot like that he could be dangerous. With that said, I hope that the lefty hook isnt his only move because we need him to be tough down low and still go up strong

Lot of talk on Morman not qualifying....does anybody know how "close" this kid is to qualifying? Is he a "long shot" to qualify or are we talking 50/50 or 80/20? Thanks.

None of those guys were JUCOs, for one. Dieng was a top 50 recruit out of prep school, and Thabeet was really talented even as a freshman.

Those other guys, are you saying they've been coached up while UC's bigs haven't? Gueye is averaging 1 point a game, Keita is averaging 3 and 3, Tchiengang averaged 3 and 3 both his freshman year and his senior year, Yarou averaged 8 and 7 as a soph and is now averaging 9 and 7 as a senior (he was a top 10 recruit out of high school as well), Wangmene is averaging 4 and 4. Not great examples.

I'm just saying there is no reason to completely stop recruiting the African kids, plenty of potential there bu tthose guys need some serious coaching.
