Though, again, I do not brag about being a low 91.
From US News Website http://www.usnews.com/education/best-col...-rankings:
6. What are National Universities? There are 281 national universities—173 public, 101 private, and 7 for-profit—based on the 2010 Basic categories established by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. National Universities offer a full range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees. In many cases, they place strong emphasis on research and receive federal money to support their research endeavors
8. What are Regional Universities and Regional Colleges? Like National Universities, Regional Universities offer a full range of undergraduate programs and provide graduate education at the master’s level. However, they differ by offering few, if any, doctoral programs. Of the 625 Regional Universities, 263 are public, 350 private, and 12 are for-profit.
The 370 Regional Colleges, including 95 public institutions, 258 privates, and 17 for-profits, focus on undergraduate education but grant fewer than 50 percent of their degrees in liberal arts disciplines. The Regional Colleges category includes institutions where in some cases only a small number of the degrees awarded are at the bachelor’s level. The Regional Universities and Regional Colleges are placed into one of four geographic categories (North, South, Midwest, and West).
By my count, sounds like Creighton is the exception. Seems like we offer just as much or more doctoral programs than SLU does.
By my count, SLU
http://www.slu.edu/majors-and-programs/g...nd-degrees
offers almost twice as many as Creighton
https://www.creighton.edu/gradschool/gra.../index.php
I'm not even gonna bother counting that, I lumped Philosophy as one doctoral degree and added Medicine, Law, Pharmacy, Dentistry, PT/OT, which gives me 7 total for Creighton. I saw SLU offer Philosophy, Medicine, and Law which equals 3. I have no idea how many "philosophy" degrees SLU and Creighton offer nor do I really care. Probably getting a little off topic now...
You counted three and quit. I counted 29 different Phd programs at SLU.

I'm glad you guys offer so 29 philosophy degrees, law and medicine. I'd personally rather have whatever many philosophy degrees, law, medicine, pharmacy, PT/OT and dentistry. Either way, I think we've both made our points, time to move on.

Can we stop with the **** measuring guys? The number of Phd's offered has no bearing on who will get an invite.

Nor will a single thing mentioned on ANY message board across the nation.
Which is why I can't wait for the selections to be announced - the winners are in, the losers go back to wherever they were before they were here, and everyone will proceed as such.
Just like anyone else we're either in or out, but the amount of uninformed bashing by representatives of one school in order to make themselves look taller vis-a-vis the other schools makes this board look pathetic.

But that doesn't mean that discussion about who we should add is pointless. It will have no bearing on who actually gets added but part of being a sports fan in this age of realignment is speculating.

That's true. And at times I think in these moves, we've figured out what was going to happen before the powers did. I think primary was the merger with CUSA and MWC.
