Thank you big Jack!
No, not Jack Eaton, but Jack Dyson at the Rendezvous. Jack is retiring this week after 48 years waiting tables at the Rendezvous. My first pitcher of Michelob was served to this just turned 18 year old in September1974 after a Tiger football game. That was over 38 years ago. Jack was one of the hardest working men I've ever known and one of the best in serving his customers. A pitcher of beer and a cheese plate always arrived at my table before I did.

Some will say this thread is NTR, but most of my friends will say that years of eating at the 'vous at Jack's station went hand-in-hand with attending Tiger football and basketball games. I'd venture to say that the Rendezvous has been home to more discussion of Tiger sports over the last 50 years than any other place in town.

Thank you Jack for all the great memories and happy trails to you and your wife.

Well deserved.

Wish it was Red. That fake Fred Sanford guy has always been a jerk to me.

Great story, I worked at the Downtowner in the early 70's and was at the 'vous almost every night after work. Many of the waiters who were there them are still there. We got to know each other and they all have great memories for thier customers. Nothing impresses my out of town friends like walking in and have the waiters call me by my name .

I always asked for Big Jack. Once during the Showboats years I took my brother there for a meal before a game. He ordered beef ribs. Jack told him he would bring him pork ribs and if he didn't like them that he would pay for them. There were no complaints.
