Exclamation Signing Day
Well, less than 2 days away. Still hearing we are hoping Hosey Williams gets his grades together. Also hearing we are fighting for Johnny Holton a raw Juco WR with crazy physical skills. Kid did not play in HS at all but is 6'3" and runs in the mid 4.3s with good hands.

Both kids have had some run ins with the law in the past so there is that. Anyone else hearing about additional targets on the downlow?

Some of these recent defections don't bother me too much but the reliance on Jucos does a little bit. We could end up with 8 or more in this class.

RE: Signing Day
Also, 4 star WR Rodney Adams to choose between UC and Toledo on Wed according to JC Shurburtt's Twitter feed. Shurburtt is National Recruiting Director for 247.

JUCOs and run ins with the law just means Tommy T is bringing SEC recruiting to Cincinnati 03-wink

RE: Signing Day
I'm wondering if the juco's is because they want to do their best to win the Big East next season to put an exclamation point behind the UC name come the next conference reallignment shuffle. If UC beats a top 10 UL squad this year it certainly helps the football resume in terms of immediate impact to a new conference.

RE: Signing Day
Whats the latest on Travis Johnson? Is UC still alive there? The two I want to see them land are him and Adams, but Adams has Toledo in his final 2? WTF is that? Does he has some off-field or grade issues we dont know about? 4-stars from Florida dont have MAC schools in their final 2-3 unless their are usually some issues.

I really wish they had brought in the Woodley kid out of Miami, that kid is a big-time talent. Maybe grades were an issue there as well. He had UC leading but they never brought him in on an official visit.

Tice is now going to USF instead of UC. All the committing and then flipping this late is really strange.

RE: Signing Day
Well, here we go. Fingers crossed some of these decisions break our way. If not, hate to say it but this class would be a bit of a letdown in my opinion despite the coaching change when compared to how some other similarly situated programs with new coaches have performed.

RE: Signing Day
It's the word that has been circulating on the interweb. Seems crazy to me, though.

My guess is Maurice Chandler one of Tubbs' TT recruits that committed to him last summer. Only one not to sign with TT today. Is a high 3*** borderline 4**** CB.

Possibly Corn Elder. I read somewhere that he was holding off to sign.

RE: Signing Day
I dont think it's Corn Elder based on this article, but he'd be a great addition and a great candidate for the "all name team"

Quote:As college football begins its national signing period on Wednesday, one of the Midstate’s top recruits won’t be involved in the initial hoopla.

Ensworth running back Corn Elder — the No. 2 prospect on The Tennessean Dandy Dozen — said Monday he does not intend to sign immediately.

“I’m not going to make my decision on Wednesday,” said Elder, who made an official visit to Georgia Tech over the weekend following a midweek visit to Auburn.

Elder said both schools have offered football scholarships with an opportunity to play basketball as well. Vanderbilt and UCLA have presented similar situations.

Elder also has a football-only scholarship offer from Ohio State and recently received a basketball offer from Purdue.

“Hopefully (I will decide) in the next couple of weeks, but not on Wednesday,” he said.

The basketball coaching staffs at Tennessee and Memphis have shown interest in Elder lately. He said he probably will not entertain any other football offers other than the ones he is already considering.

“I guess it would depend on the school,” he said. “If I liked the school maybe, but as of right now, no.”

Elder has led Ensworth to the past two Division II-AA basketball championships and was named tournament most valuable player. He is averaging 21.2 points this season for the Tigers (17-6, 9-0 DII-A).

He also led the Tigers to three straight DII-AA football titles and is the two-time Mr. Football Back of the Year. Last season, he rushed for 2,618 yards and 39 touchdowns.

“I like both football and basketball,” he said. “I don’t know if I’m really ready to give one up. That’s why I’m waiting right now. I’m just taking it day by day.”
