I'm right there with you on the Paul Harvey/farmer commercial. My family has been International Harvester dealers (now Case-IH) in Texas since 1939. The commercial really got to me; made me think the of all the farmer family members and friends from down through the years who are no longer with us. The lack of interest/knowledge in this country about American Agriculture is beyond appalling. The ad was a nice exception to that.

Aside from the fact that you're an ecu fan I won't hold THAT against you. But the fact that you are a farmer I will give you a "thank you". I hold farmers in high regard because they are who are feeding our nation and sometimes with difficult forces against you. Keep doing good because there is one who appreciates y'all. 04-cheers

I honestly think that particular commercial got a ton of under the radar attention. It resonated with middle America on 2 counts; hard working farmers are heros to many of us and Paul Harvey's voice triggered a lot of good things in our memory banks. I think that was a talk he gave in the 60's-70's to the Future Farmers of America, but I could be confused.

Can't speak for bacca buc, but my family is silver and orange, still proudly running gleaner, Agco, and Allis-Chalmers. The first tractor I ran was a farmall 100 when I was about 6 though. My first combine work was on a JD 4400 at about 12, before my grandfather and dad thought I could handle an N6 or N7 gleaner we were running at the time. Compared to most farmers around her,we're pretty small time though.

It was quite nice to see a little love for farmers.

Those were the three previews I was excited about too. Fast & Furious 6? What about that story-line needed 6 movies?

Horrible (I made a thread about it on the realignment board). So bad, I actually left the room and did other things while the commercials for the first time ever.

They've "jumped the shark."

The farmer commercial's voice (in case some missed it) was spoken by Paul Harvey. Paul was a University of Tulsa grad and often mentioned the city and university in his daily "opinions". Paul is missed and will not be forgotten by the university community.

By, the way....y'all Red or green? :-)

Sorry I didn't get back sooner, I was coaching a 9-10 year old basketball team this evening.

We are red, green, orange and even a blue one. Whomever has the strongest/nearest dealer at the time we want to spend. We never trade any tractor and still have the first tractor that was ever bought on our farm in 1946 (way before my time)...A Farmall A.

Last I bought was green. Did not have much of a choice. We lost our nearby Case IH dealer a few years ago when the JD guys pushed for the JD dealers to combine. Wilson, NC owner had a Case and JD dealership and HAD to let the Case one go.

2 months ago we finally got another one near I 95 in Wilson. I am about halfway looking for a Case IH combine right now.

Glad to see the commercial stir the pot about farming.

Thanks, and by the way UTEP is one of my favorite "other" schools to follow.

Heck, he ain't a nerd because he's dumb. Of course, he knew the more he messed up the more he would be told to do it again to the girls chagrin. COGS
