MT vs Belmont
What kind of crowd do you guys expect tonight? This should be a really good game.

Unfortunately, I'm not expecting much of a crowd. Our crowd was down for lip as well. And school not being in won't help either. I wish I was more optimistic....hopefully I'm wrong.

That's a shame. I thought you would have a pretty solid crowd since you guys have been good for so long.

It turned out to be a solid crowd for us anyway. Our average attendance for the last few years is around 1800 with the students. Last night we had 2500 without the usual 700-1000 students.

Good game. You guys ate us up all night with backdoor cuts. You got an excellent coach in Byrd. good luck the rest of the year!

The crowd did turn out better than I thought. You guys brought a great contingent over too. It would have been a closer game if you all had a better shooting night. Don't know if there was a let down after the Ole Miss game maybe. I'm sure you'll have a really good rest of the season.

RE: MT vs Belmont
One of the things that bothers me most about MTSU is all the national and local press they are getting. Belmont crushed the Raiders, yet MTSU is getting all sorts of credit for beating schools above the red line who are having terrible years; UAB, Vandy, and even Ole Miss (who I think will fold like a house of cards against any decent team). I suppose I'm just annoyed about it.

Baker, I'm with you. I get a little annoyed with it too. But, I've noticed a little more attention to our boys than I have seen in the past. A night or two ago, I was surprised to see a lengthy piece on Ian Clark on the Fox 17 sports. Yesterday I visited the Vandy board and they have a thread on the article Climer (I think) wrote in the Tennessean about Belmont being the best team in the state...and, most of the Vandy fans didn't disagree.

I think we would be getting more pub if there were a greater number of alumni in the area. Unfortunately, there are a great number of MTSU alumni so they are catering to the masses. With the new law department just adding to the student base, our numbers should be growing, like our attendance. Next thing you know, there will be more media to follow.

In the meantime, you and I just have to enduring it.

RE: MT vs Belmont
Yes!!! I couldn't agree more. Statistically speaking we have a better resume as well as a stronger RPI. Not to mention beating MTSU by a solid 16. ESPN claims that MTSU is on the verge of cracking the Top 25, yet ESPN also claims that Belmont is the 3rd or 4th best Mid Major while MTSU sits at 6th or 7th. That's ESPN for you. Just a point to remember ESPN/media doesnt pick for at-large....the Committee does.

or at least alums in the media business. dudes, dont worry about it. the way i see it is 2 things. 1, mtsu may or may not make the tourny and if they do, theyre 1 and done. 2, byrd seems to be a sly type. i bet he enjoys flying a little under the radar-----being a little underrated------and playing the underdog card

i just checked. as of today, youre the #14 rpi ranked team in the ncaa. but wouldnt byrd want to face #22 ohio state, #26 cincinatti, #34 north carolina, #44 kentucky, #52 st. johns, #107 purdue, #131 usc, #145 lsu, #193 south carolina, or even #285 coppin state as an under-publicized and mistakenly perceived underdog? that seems (to me) 2b his "giant killing" way of coaching and (probably) a key motivator for his players. dont worry about mtsu. let them have there fleeting moment. yall'll be ok in the long run, they wont

by the way, theres an argument brewing, or should i say bruin', on our site about belmont student attendance at your games. heres the link if you guys want to chime in and set the record straight,,,,,,,,,

I think we both have good teams.

And we are both getting good press.

The Game talks about Belmont daily.

I have been following both you guys and Middle Tennessee this year I really want both of you to make the tournament. It stinks that you both have great records but may not even get at large consideration.

I just hope one of us doesn't cancel the other out, being from the same area.

If UK is anywhere close, they'll get chosen over the both us. Reality.

I agree. I think we both deserve it on merit.
