MEET SCHEDULE
ATLANTA — After a week off from competition, the Georgia State track and field team returns to action at the Middle Tennessee State Invite in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Feb. 2.
The meet will be hosted at the Murphy Athletic Center, where the Blue Raider’s home basketball court is also located. MTSU is a member of the Sun Belt Conference, which the Panthers will be competing in for the first time since joining the league in 2012.
Besides the Panthers and host Blue Raiders, the meet will feature competitors from Belmont, Chattanooga, Eastern Kentucky as well as two more Sun Belt schools in Troy and Western Kentucky.
The MTSU Invite will run from 11:00 a.m. until 4:40 p.m. on Saturday, beginning with the shot put and concluding with the 4x400m relay race. See the above link for the full meet schedule.
Two weeks ago, GSU competed in the East Tennessee State Invite in Johnson City, Tenn. At the meet, senior thrower Kesean Henderson broke her own school record in the weight throw. After the competition, Katharine Showalter was named the Sun Belt Track Athlete of the Week after placing second in the mile and 5,000m.
Following the MTSU meet, Georgia State will only have one more competition remaining before the much-anticipated Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field championships on Feb. 24-25 in Jonesboro, Ark.
The conference championship will be the second Sun Belt competition the Panthers have participated in. The GSU women’s cross country team captured the conference championship in Bowling Green, Ky. on Oct. 27, 2012.
