Not surprised. I think we may have 1 or 2 more leave.

This will make me start to question MM. We cannot have 7 freshman every year. We won't ever get better doing that. Losing Springs is a shame. Like his size and skill set. However, the train will keep on moving. Interested to see who MM fills his scholarship with.

I kind of agree. I am just not sure how much MM can do. If they want to go, they want to go. He can't make them stay if they don't want to. But I do agree that you can't keep losing players year after year and be successful(unless you are a Duke, NC, Kansas or Kentucky where you just reload).

With Highsmith coming in and with Baker and Balls logging minutes it works best for all.
NIU desparetely needs a big or two who can effectively defend the rim and or take up space and own the D glass.
One JC for immediate minutes and a freshman who can develop, even redshirt for a year in the weight room.

Guys, not everyone likes being in dekalb. This isn't about Monty. I believe right now, we have the limit of 13 guys on schollys, for next year. We have 13 on schollys this year. Nixon leaves next year and we have two guys coming in. If, Springs leaves we would be at our limit of 13 next year.

Last year we had 7 FR last year and now have 3 SO.

It would seem to me (a novice to College basketball) that we will "lose" another Freshman or two before the cut off date to have 13.

RE: Springs leaving?
we lose Nixon and the big incoming frosh PG takes his scholly...we lose AC so have a scholly to give there. Springs leaving is ok--he wasn't a team player and didn't seem to buy in...MM will get a better player with his scholarship...Might still have one more scholarship open up so we will have 3-4 frosh next year which is about the norm...actually springs leaving helps balance the 2017 graduating class.

RE: Springs leaving?
It's tough to bring in that many freshman and hang onto all of them. Kids want to play right away these days. Serving their time in the program behind others is looked down upon in some cases. They all want immediate gratification.

WMU brought in 8 frosh this year. Two are redshirting (1 is a walk on). One is currently injured. And there is another one that isn't getting much PT. The other 4 are in our rotation. I'm not sure if anyone leaves or not...but at the beginning of the year, I would have predicted that someone bolts just because it's tough to keep that many players happy in one recruiting class.

Why would we lose Christian, he has another year. I could see Davis leaving(lack of playing time). I could see Mader leaving(homesick and unsure how devoted to bball he is). I base my Mader comments on reading twitter.

Ya either way, that was the reasoning for the quotations.

I thoght Sam Mader was injured and therefore not playing. He is from Wisconsin, pretty close to NIU. Freshman year is always a period of adjustment.

I believe Mader is injured and that's why hes not playing. Cagey hinted there maybe another guy leaving. I was just guessing, possibly Davis and or Mader. Cagey seems to have the inside info.

I really hope Mike Davis doesn't leave he has good size and shows some promise.

I also like Davis but he doesn't get many minutes. Anyone know when Mader is coming back? If, Springs is leaving is he leaving now or after season?
