Bleeds, have you talked to anyone at NIU to see how many letters and spaces we actually get to use? That will help to know...

The ONLY thing is we have to make sure the GT Swagger wont change that address. ALSO if he does close the site we need to buy the domain name from him to continue it in some way.

HuskieJohn brings up a legit concern...how long will GTSwagger keep the site going? And if he decides not to continue....would we be able to buy the domain name rights and what would that cost? Not all that many people kicked in for the CPC brick so I would be concerned that not many would kick in to buy the domain name rights.

I would for sure kick in if I had to. Can't imagine life without our board!

Huskie359's idea is the best I would vote for: gives address and identifies the group....there can't be a better listing......

if you do a search for niu dog pound, you get the link for the forum....even if it changes in future, a search of the info on the brick (like many are going to pay much attention anyway) will lead to the fan forum in whatever form it will take in the future

I wouldn't be concerned about the domain name. It's registered through this November. Whoever owns it (I'm assuming GTS) will have first shot at renewing it. In 6 months we start a new fund, Paypal the money to GTS, and he renews it for 10 years. Done.

Collecting money from our board members is not as easy as you may think. When the idea for getting money together for us to donate to the CPC - as a group- first came up a lot of folks said they would be interested in donating. Then when the time came... many of those who SAID they would donate did not. So a few of us carried the whole load.

I had to post a lot of times begging people to donate even $5 or $10 and it was not all that successful. If everybody who gets on here - even just to read - had put in $10 each...we would have had close to $2,000 or even more I bet.
So honestly...collecting money is not as easy as you might think.

I didn't say that it's easy. Take some of the leftover money from this fund then and set it aside for the domain name renewal. The point is that it shouldn't be a concern. It's not that expensive to renew a domain name and it's not due for another 10 months.

Armour, first of all there will not be any money leftover from this collection. The money is ALL going to the CPC. Secondly, the renewal of the domain name is up to GT Swagger I think, isn't it? So I don't know that it is a current concern of ours. I believe it was brought up for a possible way way in the FUTURE problem we may have to deal with....which is a consideration if we are putting NIUDogpound.com on a wall in the CPC and it will still be there in 50 years.

Domain names don't cost very much...

I really don't see GTS changing the domain name. He likes to keep people coming to these websites so he gets paid, I highly doubt he would make it harder to get here... Plus he is really excited we are doing this, I bet if we immortalized one of his forums, he would make sure he keeps the domain name. I'm going to mail the check on Monday. Woop!

I would use caps for NIU and no caps anywhere else. .... what does anybody else think?

BTW - GREAT job by the board coming up with this donation. Thanks to Bleeds for taking care of it for us.

I like capitalizing the start of the words besides NIU, I feel it makes it a little easier to distinguish/remember.
