are majorettes consider a sport, or just part of the marching band?

Marching band. Few schools even have them now even if they have a marching band.

VI's equestrian program is still alive but you really wonder how much longer VI is going to be able to stay afloat. http://www.wcyb.com/news/Virginia-Interm...index.html

I wonder if there is any possibility that somehow ETSU could make VI's equestrian program their own. There are certainly some issues there but I wonder if VI would be willing to part with it and allow ETSU to take over the program. At the very least there may be some competent equestrian folks with experience in collegiate competition available sooner rather than later right here in our area.

That'll bring in the crowds and generate revenue.

Actually Sander wasn't to high on the idea of Field Hockey because it isn't really played in this area. He was however high on the idea of beach volleyball. He said regular volleyball skills would translate and it should be a crowd favorite. Wonder what he was implying? Sounds like we have kindred spirit for Pitt.

Folks think football is expensive, can't compare to the operating costs of equestrian.

Remember how Stanton and Wayne Andrews had the CPA pool built a couple of feet short of regulation? Yea....
Rifle makes sense, the facility is already there as does Sand Volleyball.

RE: Women's sports
Sorry for using an old thread... heard that Johnson City Parks and Rec has approved a study on a rowing facility to be developed in Winged Deer Park. Wondering if this is community posturing toward the supporting of an unknown ETSU women equivalancy sports to offset football? I think this would be a great add to this area if they can pull it off.
