The local sports media hacks are gonna have a tough couple days getting over this one. They were hoping for Old Miss fever to take over Memphis since our Tigers, in their view, don't do enough to deserve any support. Oh well.
I was shock when Mike Ceide of News Channel 3 covered the Rebels win over Missouri first before they covered the tigers game that day.
That shouldn't surprise you. Most in the local media are at the grove during saturdays in the fall.

Florida looks to be the only decent team in that conference and will rip the bears a new one when they play this weekend (I think). Noel gets a lot of blocks because he gets a lot of no-calls when he fouls.
Yea they go to Florida this weekend and UK goes to aTm. My prediction of the 2 seed in SEC having 8 losses is shaping up very nicely.
Hopefully Cal got the checkbook out after his postgame presser:

I mean, the locker room we’re in, I’m like looking for squirrels in there. You’ve got to be kidding me. You’ve got all these football facilities … this campus is gorgeous. This campus is like none other. This is one of the nicest college campuses in the country, except for this building. This is the only bad building on the whole campus.”

1.) Marshall is the most overrated player I've seen in a long time. I guess it's more the local media, but I was not impressed. He's also a thug. Nothing made me happier than seeing the ref make him pick the ball up that he placed on the other side of the court after a call that he didn't like.
2.) Nerlens Noel is a beast on defense. I think he's a better shot blocker than Anthony Davis. But, he is HORRIBLE on offense. And his free throw shooting is pathetic. That will be a huge problem for Kentucky moving forward.
3.) Poythress is getting there.
4.) Wiltjer is actually pretty good. He'll be a strong piece for Kentucky moving forward.
5.) Kentucky has very little depth. And their physical play makes this an even bigger problem.
6.) White had the game of his life, but Ole Miss is not a very good team. Livin and dying by the 3.
7.) Cal has a bunch of headcases on this team. And their free throw shooting is pathetic.

Firts game this year that I watched any real time of mispiisiii. Wanted to see Henderson play.
Someone commented once that we would not think he is a punk if he played here.
Uh- yes I would.
Fast, angry, passionate, yes. shoots non-stop- snatches dead balls oout of players hands, angrily throws ice at his own fans, and taunts a referee by placing the ball on the ground.
He is a good addition, and the two seniors are good players...but...that kid needs some help.

Exactly. Ole Miss fans like him because he's made their team somewhat relevant. But, Ole Miss basketball is light entertainment for them as they wait for baseball and football season. They really don't care much about it, but find it fun and amusing when something good is happening.
First, Memphis fans (especially the blue hairs) would not like this type of attitude. Second, we would never see a player with this type of attitude. Pastner wouldn't allow it. Jelan Kendrick had an attitude. He never played a game at Memphis. Geron Johnson had some baggage. Pastner went above and beyond to ensure that Geron would be a model citizen on and off the court.
Dick Vitale tweeted something about how Andy Kennedy's heart must skip a beat when he gets a call at night. Just cause of having Henderson in the program.

We know that.
We know a student threw the ice on the court.
It was the manner in which he threw it back, hard that was so full of assholishness. All the you are annoying us insouciance.
Fans will be major jackwads sometimes. Players can react. but now that you amplified this even more- that this kid also told them to not F-ing do this again- he seems even worse.
I am personally glad Kentucky won. Ole Miss and their fans were starting to feel out of their place and think they are relevant in the college basketball world becuase they are ranked. (on a mighty weak schedule i might add) Ole Miss being ranked is what is called an "emotion ranking." You take a team that is a perennial doormat, and they all of the sudden start winning a good amount of games and the media and voters love it. Even if they do beat up on cupcakes. I actually have a buddy that is an Ole Miss fan and he made this comment yesterday, "With all of the success that we are having in football and basketball now, I bet we get looked in to by the NCAA soon."
A 6-6 season and a minor bowl- resulting in a 7-6 season.
They have peaked.
(and yes- I am more than ready for our team to get back to bowls, just doing what Memphis fans can do- which is poke ANOTHER SCHOOL for prancing about being back to being a football power after a spectacular leave no doubt 7-6 year).

I didn't like what Marshall did with the ball and am glad the referees made him go get it...even though it was hilarious to see one about to bend over and the other run over there and stop him, but I have little problem with a player who doesn't want his team to get a technical because his idiot classmates throw crap on the court right after getting a foul called on their behalf. Obviously better way to handle it in hindsight, but heat of the moment...
