Returning Starters for 2013 C-USA Football
EDIT: Just noticed there is already a thread on this. :Merged:

Phil Steele compiled a breakdown of returning starters by team. Here is C-USA with each team's national rank:

1 UTSA
8 Middle Tennessee
8 Rice
8 Tulane
17 North Texas
24 East Carolina
24 Marshall
58 Southern Miss
88 Florida Atlantic
88 UAB
98 UTEP
112 Tulsa
122 FIU
125 Louisiana Tech

Link is here

For FIU, we lose our whole O-line and virtually all of our defense (not sure if that is a bad thing after last year's results...) Time to see if our talented recruiting classes will pay off.

Thanks for facts.....and ECU has a new DC who was a former SEC DC and former secondary/Assistant Head Coach back on staff @ ECU

The Rice total is misleading. I'd say the accurate total should be 19 returning starters, which would actually tie us for first. We for sure lose 2 receivers - we do lose our top 3 tight ends but we didn't play two of them together very much. One of our non-starting wide receivers (I guess) was the MVP of the Armed Forced Bowl game. We return our entire offensive line I think. We sometimes started two seniors on defense but 1 of the 2 was beat out by an underclass guy late in the year so 10 returning defensive starters is probably more accurate.

It's not a total. It's a ranking.

Pretty sure it's a ranking based on total number of returning starters, not quality of returners.

Tech lost 1/3 of the team! Brand new identity next year. But if you're going to beat us, it better be next year.... only losing 7 seniors on the 2 deep. (41 / 48 returning in 2014).

For ECU he has a '0' for both Punter and Kicker. Unless something has happened that I'm unaware of, Tignor (our Junior P) and Harvey (our Sophomore K) will both be back.

I know it's not a ranking - just a total of returning starters. And my point is he has it wrong for Rice. We either return 18 or 19 starters, but not 17. Unless some underclass guy that I'm unaware of isn't returning to the team (possible I suppose).

UAB's o-line returns more than one starter. We return 3 guys who started most of the games and 2-3 others with starting experience. We do lose our LT who started all 12 games, which is a big loss.

Yeah and 2/3 of your starters. Wow Tech and FIU will have brand new squads.

Rice should win the Western division.

No starting RBs returning for Tech? Tell that to this guy

http://espn.go.com/college-football/play...neth-dixon

I'd up it to 2 WR 4 DL and 1 LB as well.

RE: Returning Starters for 2013 C-USA Football
We were young last year, have 16 players coming back plus 19 freshman who redshirted that we have not really heard much about yet. We also have a potentially program changing QB transfer who will be eligible and a JUCO all american CB & OT coming in. I am not saying we win 9 games, but I think we will be competitive in most games and 6 wins is reasonable. There is not enough talent at WR or along the defensive line for us to compete for a championship yet. However if Brock Berglund ends up playing as advertised from day one you never know.

I'm just glad I can look forward to next season without feeling like we will get slaughtered in 75% of the games. We're not where we want to be yet, but we're getting there.

I don't know where he get the numbers for this, but all of our starting WR's and TE's are returning.

RE: Returning Starters for 2013 C-USA Football
I think we'll be a 7 to 8 win team next year. We will be replacing a lot of guys on both sides of the ball but as long as we make it to a bowl game, it will be a good year. Now 2014, we are gonna be a buzz saw with BCS bowl dreams.
