NCAA zaps the Zips
Would have been an interesting move, but it probably would have opened up a can of worms. Either that or the NCAA hasn't figured out how to make money off this idea.

RE: NCAA zaps the Zips
Scumbag NCAA says "no" to twitter handle, say "meh" to twitter style recruiting in football.

...Under NCAA rules, teams are only allowed to have the name of a player, institution or mascot on the back of its jersey. The NCAA apparently has been reluctant to waive this rule under any circumstances because it fears there will be too many frivolous requests for exceptions...

thehappyhuskie says there is an easy solution to this to thumb their nose at the NCAA. Either have the players legally change their names for a day, or change the school's mascot for a day. Is it overkill? sure is. is it ridiculous? absolutely. is the ncaa's statement in both this and Iowa's situation ridiculous and stupid? most certainly.

I can understand not having it on the uniform but I don't think that it should be a big deal on the warmups. But it should be limited to promoting the school or team but no McDonalds or Apple promotions.
